5 days new, '06 white with light gray fabric interior. Now second thoughts about fabric. Our other car has leather and we are concerned cause we have grandchildren. Can someone with like interior tell me how the faric holds up to stains. I read that Toyota offers a fabric guard protection for about $500.

Opinions are welcome on both points. Other than these points the car is a dream.

My newly arrived 2006 Silver has what I would call a darker gray interior. Much like the Toyota website. Unless my idea of dark is your light?

I have had my 06' since the 2nd now and forgot to post in my own thread. Well, my 06' does have a dark grey interior. Comparing it to my friend with an 04' 2 weekends ago it is definitely different. His had 2 different colors for the grey, a bit darker around the sides and light in the center. Mine is dark grey all throughout. Also, his little squares in the fabric seem to be more recesssed or easily to feel when you rub your hand across the material. Maybe that is because his are worn 2 years more than mine, i don't know.

All in all, i am happy and like the new darker fabric. I bought an $8 can of scotchgard and would recommend it. I have a kid on the way and I'm sure it'll be worth it. And much more worth it than the $400-$500 i heard people saying Toyota charges for simmilar protection.

When the ScotchGuard is sprayed on the faric is there a risk of it getting onto the non facric areas and can it do any damage to those parts. Also is Scotch Guard visible on the fabric?

Has anyone put the leather console and armrest covers on their Prius. I've seen them advertised on Ebay nd was wondering how they work out for anyone who is using them now. (see attachment)

When I did the front seats and the door armrests yes the plastic around it got a little 'wet' but use a cotton towel and just wipe it off. That's what I did and you can see no ill adversities now at all.

No, the scotchgard dries to where you wouldnt even know it is on there. You'll know it is there though when you test it 24 hours later by pouring some water on a seat or carpet and it rolls and puddles up instead of sinking in and leaving a wet trailmark.

Its my opinion but wow, those covers look pretty bad. I'd almost rather a bit of a dirty armrest than have that on there. I use griots garage interior cleaner and let me tell you, it has kept the seats, carpet etc very clean on all my previous cars.

I have the leather console cover from Robin's Hoods. To me, it looks fine, even without using the supplied Velcro. But, as with Priuses and high winds, your mileage may vary...
