OK after literally years of thinking about this I'm finally about to go for a new Prius IV or V. Not sure if I want to spend the extra $$$ on the solar roof or the Advanced Tech package though. Is that really worth it?

I was curious, what is the best way to purchase? Should I go with Cars Direct, another online site (I've seen Costco mentioned) or would I get a better price just going to the dealer?

Also is it better to buy now and try to get a '12 at a better price? Will I really save that much $$$? There seem to be lots of cars around now....maybe they will want to get rid of them at a better price?

    Thanks much!

If you already decided on a Prius and don't need to test drive, here is the rule of thumb: negotiate via e-mail - $3,000 below MSRP for base II or III, and $3,500 for model with sunroof and navigation, if bought from dealer stock, end of month. Send dealer e-mail offer - use AmEx or Visa to make a deposit of $1,000 or $2,000 - visit dealer only after you have e-mail commitment of price.

Is $26,828 a good price for a 2012 Prius IV base model?

Seats are terrible on long drive. Get power seats or make sure car induced back surgery is covered by your health plan.
