    ^ All things are relative.

    THAT EXPLAINS IT!!!!

Michigan and other places up in the frozen far North always look bigger on a map than they really are.

They always tried to tell me that it was the Mercator projection....but now I see the real reason!! :D

My Prius spreadsheet calculates both "actual" MPG and gallons/100 miles. I'm having trouble converting that to furlongs in a fortnight.

I think you guys are over analyzing this... Just press the MPH / km/h button! mine is a '12 pip. I wonder if the wiring is already there and you can use, like you suggeseted, to toggle back and forth? photo2.JPG

I just flip my Prius upside down to invert the units.

I really wish we had made the switch to metrics. I hate having two sets of wrenches and sockets. Of course like others have said it wouldn't have helped me much when I was working on a ship. I had a devil of a time figuring knots and fathoms.

It was more complicated than that. They had to convert measured fuel volume in the tanks, in liters, into kilograms (and back, after calculating how much more fuel needed to be added), so they had to look up the fuel density. They used the wrong value - instead of the mass in kilograms of a liter of fuel they used the weight of a liter of fuel in pounds. And when they had someone else double-check the math, he used the wrong density number, too. All this was because they'd only recently converted from using pounds into using kilograms - they'd been using liters instead of gallons for a while.

That's why I don't fly.....well.(*!*)...OK. That and the fact that they won't let me fly.
There's just no excuse for sucking a tank dry on a 767, to say nothing of sucking them all dry!
The pilot made one helluva great dead-stick landing but I still would have fired his butt for going wheels-up in a commercial airliner sans fuel gauges to say nothing of running the damn thing out of fuel at 41,000'!!

I'll stick to cars, thank you very much!
If GOD had intended for humans to fly we wouldn't have rental cars with unlimited mileage. ;)

So it was lobbying by the US Tool manufacturers to ditch the conversion!
