If you know this answer or anyone else please help me. I am in the middle of designing my own skin and the problem I run into is the climate control. I add it as an app but when I click on it to edit the app program closes every time. Is there a way to create an app and import it to the RRUIEditor? Thanks for any info, will help :)

Did you try the previous version (2.0) to see if it works? (look at first post...)
Also, can you post your RRUI file so we can take a look and see what's wrong?

I have a question/request - I have all of my music library in my iPod which contains several hunderds of CD's. I really like it, but the problem is that I find the iPod mode quite problematic since it does not have a search option, and thus it is quite hard (even nearly impossible) to find the album I am looking for, as it requires scrolling and scrolling. I understand that since this unit is running WinCE one can actually install more programs, and I was wondering if someone is using something more robus to play their music (either from the iPod or from USB...)?
Does anyone knows how to install a new player (aka WinAmp) and then somehow use it?
    Thanks,
    Itay

For iPod, not sure if there is something else.

But for USB or SDCard, there are a few apps you can extract and install from some packages like MioPocket or WinCE.
Look at first post: Ottonavi HU: How to customize (a bit) the UI | PriusChat
especially section: "How to add other apps to your unit".

Thanks - I actually saw that, but it seems as if this will replace the entire UI of the unit... also looking at the software list - it looks like all of it (at least in the list they provide) are games....

Nope; that doesn't replace the UI; it adds tons of apps (not just games) including iToday which is an iPhone UI clone.
You can go back and forth between the two or you can even call the new apps directly from the original UI.
    Check the docs!

    Cheers,
There are 3 options in the initial thread - two are free and one is payable - which one would you recommend?
By the way - do you know if it is possible to play flac on the unit (obviously with a different player..)

In your case, I would try the players from MioPocket first.
So extract MioPocket on a PC and transfer only the players you want to a USB key and see if it works.
    TCPMP does play FLAC files.

    Hi everyone,

I have a Road Rover unit and have been having trouble with the radio portion. I am not sure if this needs to be updated with a newer version of the UI or the OS or the MCU. I cant find any versions of the MCU online, so this does not look to be easy.

I when I am listening to the radio, and choose particular radio station presets, there will be times where the radio refuses to "lock" onto the station and jumps randomly to another preset I did not select.
This happens with particular radio stations and not others, I beleive the RDS is not encoding properly and some how makes it think a "Tab" button is pressed on the keyboard or something? i do not know. it is extremely irritating.
I first thought it was a weak station issue, but i have eliminated that idea.

I assume this has to do with the RDS as my version continuously updates the preset name with the incoming RDS info.

I have read alot on these units and have not found many others with the same problem.

My unit is a ford unit, that has this MCU version MCU:7.04FE-6H9HN8R
    My OS is EN-PRIMA-ARM-SLC-V1.48
I dont know the version of UI, but it runs in the D2280 variety.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried the "Hardware" and "OS, navigation, and Software" sections of China-RNS.com

I am trying there as well, but I would like to spread the issue around so people are aware of it and can work towards a solution. I am positive I am not the only one suffering from this.

    the_natrix,

    A few things to know...

    1) You don't mention where you are from... In America, Roadrover units are shipped with the European RDS system.
Shame. So this means you will most probably end up with some spelling mistakes on the radio stations categories. Also some of the names are simply mixed up because the encoding is different in America. Check out the first post (FAQ) for some info on how to fix those. (Not sure if that will work on your system though...)

    2) The reason why it's jumping around is probably because you enabled the PTY (program type option) which let you scan certain categories (using RDS) radio stations like only Classical, etc. Also I believe this option will override your station names if you have entered a new one. So make sure your PTY is disabled and see if that still jumps around.

    3) About your UI, you need to make sure your version is compatible with the one we have here with Ottonavi before using any of the Tools. Otherwise that might screw up your unit. If you can, make a backup copy of your unit important folders and sdcard on a PC before attempting any changes.

Was looking around on my OttoNavi. Aka American Road Rover

PTY did jump my station scanning around pretty weird. So I turned it off.

Also on the radio screen, as Bulle said, check the settings for your frequencies. My was under the icon for settings, local stations, then choose "Asia, America, or Europe".

I recently encountered a problem with my Ottonavi the system reset and dumped my settings like Eamp brightness...etc. I managed to get some of the settings back using the hidden menu when you select the DVD and by pressing the channel button but can't seem to get the brightness back. When my headlights are on my screen is very dim and hard to read but if the headlights are off the screen is brighter. I've even went to the nav setting and adjusted the brightness to the max but still can't figure this out, has anyone else had this problem or know where to go to fix this?
    Thanks

I have had my dash lights dim when the headlights are on and get brighter when they are off. I made dash lights stay the same brightness all the time my setting the dashlight dimmer to the max. There is a lock on like feature when you adjust the brightness all the way up. In my old car the same feature used to turn on the dome lights. No so in my prius. Wonder if this also controls the brightness of the OttoNavi. I think it probably does.

One the HU are there settings to allow the voice directions of the GPS to overlay the radio/music? or at least play them on the front speakers only?

On my unit, the GPS voice overlays the radio/music just perfect.
You may have to adjust your GPS volume settings.

My MP3 will overlay... but the radio will not...

I think I found my answer.... in this post by strados on the china-rns website.

Second question... is there anyway to cut back on the warning and naviagation instructions.

I get "prepare to turn left in less than 1/2 mile"
"prepare to turn left in 400 feet"
    "turn left"
"prepare to enter highway in less than 1/2 mile"
    "prepare to enter highway"

all for on turn... All I really need is prepare to turn left, and the turn left commands.

    the commentary seems a little excessive... o_O

For that you need to dig into the iGO manual... There are like a gazillion options...
gpsunderground.com might also have an answer.

BTW Interesting find on the mp3 overlay...
It seems to be related to an older version of the unit though...
But may be our i9 behaves the same way .
