I received the e-mail on 9/18 that my application was approved. How long does it take to receive the check? The e-mail says 60 days but wanted to see what the actual duration was for folks who got the checks.

See step 3 of Clean Vehicle Rebate Project. I think you're confusing things w/the Federal tax credit, which the PiP is also eligible for.

You have got to be kidding me?!! State of CA is cutting a check (cash) to its residents that purchase a PIP? or EV?

How much exactly? Sorry couldn't find it in the link...

    CVRP Eligible Vehicles

The CVRP initially on the Leaf was $5K, instead of $2.5K. And, the '11 Leaf was significantly cheaper than the '12 Leaf.

Since you're in So Cal, if you'd gone to AltCar Expo a few weeks ago (I did, I made the >300 mile drive, one way), there were some CVRP staffers there.

Side note: Some Leafers were pretty active in terms of discussing it and tracking it. See My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - [PHASED-OUT]: Tracking the $5k California CVRP Fund and My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Tracking the $2.5k California CVRP Fund, for example.

The CA rebate for the PiP is $1500, payable as a check. It is non-taxable, since it is considered a rebate. CVRP is administered by the private non-profit California Center for Sustainable Energy. Application at Clean Vehicle Rebate Project

approved 8/27 -- still no check.

LOL. "Prius Five Guy" did you just realize you missed out on $1500? But yes, I think it's kind of weird they are subsidizing our EV purchases...

Well, from his info, he didn't buy a PiP, so he didn't miss it. He would've needed to buy a PiP instead...

I assume you mean the "approved" message that you get in response to the mailed-in application that included the required support material (registration receipt, bill of sale, along with application form). There is a phone number on the application that is answered by a real person. The CVRP is being handled by private non-profit, so you are not dealing with a government office. At least back in March the contact information was

Just received my check today. I got the "you're approved!" e-mail on or about 9/10, so it does take a while.

I think I read somewhere that when they run low on funds, somebody in the state government has to replenish their $$$ in order for them to send out the rebate checks. Maybe that's what happened?

ATM there's over $7mil in funding still left. I think what has actually happened is that the number of people purchasing the car has gone up quite a bit since when the program first began, and their staff hasn't expanded to deal with it.
    Here was my timeline
    10/29 submitted online
11/2 email received with completed paperwork
11/4 paperwork mailed via first class mail
    11/28 application approved
    12/21 check received
