Prius C3 Build Thread

    The purpose of this build is not to make it look like a race car (my previous car). I sold my previous car due to the fact that it was heavily modded. However, I have created this thread because I have a few ideas that would make my Prius a little extra tasteful. I am not doing this for the attention but to share with the forums what my plans are. Its nothing crazy, but it is something for me look forward while I still enjoy the wonderful MPG. I know this is a Prius and its not a race car, so by no means am I trying to make it look like something it is not.



    Here are some features I will/might include on the car in the upcoming weeks/months :

    Matte Grey Vinyl Wrap The Whole Car
    Red Out the Taillights
    Black-Out wheels
    Black-Out Headlights
    Remove All Emblems
    Custom License Plate ( Already ordered my Personal License Plate Through DMV)
    Custom Interior/Cabin LED Kit
    LED Daytime Running LED
    HID 8000K HID Kit
    Tint Windows

    Not sure why you black out headlights but upgrade to HID kit, the brighter the better to me. It might be illegal to black out headlights but not sure. Couple more suggestions: Shark Fin and HID Fog lights. If you want you can tint the front shield too, mine is at 70% but people do more at 50%. The darker the better for silver, mine is Super White with limo on the rear and back seats and 15% front seats.

    Thanks for the suggestions but these are simple upgrades to better enhance my nighttime driving,protect the car's paint and resale value. Unlike my old car i spent ten of thousands in mods. Everything im doing here can be purchased at a local Home Depot. Also, Im making the Prius my own :)

    Half the mods are actually lighting upgrades such as LED and HID. Stock Halogen bulbs are weak, dim and a safety hazard for me.

    The Custom License Plate I got it two nights ago in dedication to the victims of the tragic event that unfolded in Connecticut.
    Window Tint = Hot weather
    Matte Grey Vinyl = To give it a cool texture and Protect the paint for resale value

    If I really want appearance, I would have gotten wheels, suspension and body kits or just stayed with my old car. What Im doing here is to upgrade what the stock/dealership did not give me.

    FYI - Leaving it stock will increase your resale value and desireability.

    Most of the items you listed, and I'd suspect ALL of the ones not listed or even thought of yet, are of a personal nature. You will have to find someone that has your taste and is willing to pay for something that is already done and is years old. Maybe not so hot and new anymore...tastes change, personal and market wants. Five years is a long time in the latest is greatest crowd.

    Adding to that, don't expect to get anything near what you're paying now for these items. I'd be surprised at 0ver 50%, though I don't know your market. How much back did you get for all the things you did to your prior car?

    All of these mods could easily be reversed when the OP goes to sell the car.

    My only question, is the reasoning for getting the vinyl wrap. From what I have experienced with selling/trading in cars is that the normal rock chips and door dings do not impact the resale value at all. If you do the KBB route and have to select the second from the top option for condition, the price does go down but for the most part dealerships are never going to give you the top dolar amount anyway. I am sure that the cost of the wrap will be WAY more than the decrease in value do to normal wear and tear.

    Instead of trying to justify doing the mods just say "because I want to and I think it will look cool to me" because that is all that really matters.

    My friend owns a vinyl wrapping company. He has a lot of unused vinyls so it doesn't cost me a penny getting it wrap other than the hours I'm putting into it.
