I have a 2007 Prius Touring, that aside from oil changes, a set of 4 tires, and a warranty water pump replacement (recall notice) , I have had no other service performed on the car. It runs great, but I know after 75,000 miles I am running on borrowed time.

I am experiencing the HID headlight outage problem with my right front headlight and a time or two my left front as well. When I asked the service manager at the dealer (Molle) how much it would cost to replace the two bulbs, I was quoted $550. Ouch! That dealer also installed the internal antenna for the XM radio, which cuts out during cloud cover. :( Well almost! A poor design the dealer never wanted to take responsibility for, they blamed it on Toyota.

Granted I have seen the video on how to do the bulb replacement myself, but I can provide sordid details of other work I've done on my other cars in the past. The first time is always a frustrating learning experience and there typically is never a 2nd time to do that same repair, more efficiently.

I would be open to any recommendations for knowledgeable, cost effective Service establishments for my Prius in the KC metro area.

Honestly i've reposted the video of pulling the entire headlamp assembly if needed but even with my hands, i was able to swap the bulbs w/o pulling the whole assembly pretty easy.. Let me know closer to Thxgiving if you still need help. I'd gladly help out.

Any suggestion where to buy two replacement bulbs?

I could not find your video, you said you posted. Can you provide the link?

Glad I was able to help you out Russ with your headlights. Nice to meet a fellow Prii owner.

If you need future svc I know an honest shop in GrandView, MO but don't know if he knows about the Prii. He has done lots of work for me back when I still lived in the area. Ask for Maurice.

I'd ask him first but I know he'll give you a straight forward answer.

What type of maintenance are you looking at performing? I live in Burlington, KS and and not too far from KC. I have taken my car to the dealer in Topeka, KS and was happy with their work on the coolant pump recall.
