We had unfortunate news on Thanksgiving .. the wife's grandmother passed down in Virginia... so Saturday we headed out - I live north of Fort Wayne, IN ... and we had to go to Jonesville, VA which is about an hour east of Cumberland Gap for those of you that are familiar...

We picked up I75 in Lima, OH ... headed south -to Corbin KY, then east on 25 ... to Cumberland Gap ...
from there - 58 East into the tip of VA. From our house - 7.5-8 hours drive... got all the way to Corbin before needing fuel... then drove around a bit while there - headed home Sunday, and got to Lebanon, OH I think (right before Cinci)... fueld up and made the rest the way home with a little over half tank left. 3 fuel ups in all ... about 1000-1100 miles total... speeds 70-75 on the interstate with the cruise...
mountains ... and then normal city/highway driving there with a few switchbacks, etc.

display read 41 when I got home -- but pumped ... calculated to about 37.8 mpg. was a little disappointed in that - but we were doing about 75 most of the way home... with some stop and go for a 5 mile stretch on 75.

Still better that what our Montana would have gotten, it avgs about 22-25. all in all - made the trip with the 60 dollar hotel room... only costs us about 250 bucks... 130 for gas, 60 hotel and the other was food...

anyone else experience similar milage on your trips?

You've had no replies. So even though your posting is a bit old...

On a 650 mile 2 day trip including some stop and go but 95% 65-75MPH cruise-control and probably a bit cooler temps (28-45F), I got 41.5 per fuelly. Pretty flat though, no mountains which makes a difference. And 490 lbs in people plus 3 suitcases. Everything makes a small difference.

Thanks Mike for the reply - I was sort of suprised... that no one posted... but there are a lot of threads on mileage out there...

It was just me and the wife - with a suitcase, and couple small bags, i.e. tablet and camera..etc. (snacks) ...

I haven't been getting quite as good of mielage as I was in the summer ... maybe I'm just more used to the car - and not babying it being "new" ... I don't know ... I know a lot has to do with winter - and the engine not cycling much...
but my commute to work is 42 miles one way - and the engine doesn't shut off anyway, unless I hit a red light ...
so I wouldn't think it would be that drastic a difference for myself...

Just noticed ...folke's response to your Nov. post........must have missed that..!
    14k on our "v"....three longer trips...Two people + stuff...Cincinnati to Austin, 3k plus round trip...cruise at 70..calculated at 39.6 mpg

Two trips to Jacksonville,Fl. one thru the mountains(Asheville) one via I75....both calculated 40+ mpg.
    FWIW I average(calculated) 44 mostly city driving....

The automobile does what it was designed to do....

Yeah, 75mph is not a good speed for the Prius, so it would seem. We travelled from Fort Worth, TX to Ruidoso, NM over the holidays. From 600ft abv sea level to 7100ft abv sea level. 2 Adults, 3 kids and a full back.

38.4mpg overall...way down from my average of 52! Still, like your Montana, our Enclave would have been a lot worse.

oh, I'm not complainin' -- its funny though... I was almost disappointed... having gotten used to the 47 I was averaging this summer on my commute to work... can wait for it to warm back up and watch the average climb...
