Wow!... just drove my car home.... about a 42 mile trip.... it was the most fun I"ve had in a long long time!.... It only had 5 miles on the car when I got it. I'm already getting an average of 44mpg!... It was 46 degrees outside and I had my temp set to 72 degrees inside. This is much better than I expected so soon and on the first gallon of gas!..... I feel like I'm in a catallac!.... I sure hope this new car suspension never goes away.... its perfect! Its awesome to play with the navigation... now I have alot to read up on... I've been studying this car for 3 months... but once you get one, the learning starts all over again..... This car is so much fun to drive.. its hard to leave it alone. The steering is so tight and smooth. Going over railroad tracks was a breeze. The suspension is amazing for a small car. With my lights on "low", I light up all four lanes of the freeway!.... brights are amazing on dark roads.. it makes the headlights of my other cars look like flashlights. P.S. My wife also made me add the fact about how cranky I got when I made it home and couldn't keep playing with it anymore. Bummer... its time to go bed so I can get up at 4:00 AM again.... Well, I get to play some more tomorrow.. And I can't wait to take a decent trip.
Congratulations windstrings!!! It's really fun to see each of us finally get our Prius after waiting for months. We've all been anxious and impatient together, reading and researching as much as we can, wondering what it will be like when the car finally arrives! Now, little by little, each of us pops up with some kind of a "got my Prius" post! B) The car is awesome, no doubt about it! I get warm fuzzies reading about other people's first day with their Prius because it was so fun for me. The cool part is that the fun continues every day. Man I just love the Prius! Once again congrats!!
Wait a minute! Your car? I thought this was your wife's car. I bet they will both be your car! Congratulations! You're right about the learning beginning again. Then it was theoretical, now it's real! Have fun! Turn off the screen sometime and just drive, feeling the car's response.
Face it, you're addicted. No intervention needed though. To me, the amazing thing about Prius is that the excitement evident in your post continues indefinitely. I'm working on my fifth 2G Prius with the latest '06, and I feel similar emotions every time I climb into the driver's seat. Prius takes driving enjoyment to a new level, and this comes from one with a road racing car background who usually gets his thrills at Portland International Raceway. Prius rules, it really is a lifestyle. My neighbor got one after I let him demo mine and then he began recycling for the first time. Glad you're enjoying yours, it only gets better. Now get some sleep.
Woooooooo Hooooooooooo! Been a long time coming! Congrats dude! You're gonna have even more fun over the next fews days. I'm so happy for ya windstrings! Enjoy my friend. P.S. Your wife is going to be jealous for a while (regardless of which one of you it really belongs to) "you spend more time with that car than me..." kinda thing...LOL Aaron
thats nice to know.. your post is encouraging.... this is kinda like drugs that you hope you will never come down from!  yea.. this could get really sick! When I get my barcelona "my spanish girl", hey I'll have 3 wives!... oops.. I mean 1 wife, 2 prius's! Second thought... maybe I should think of them as my "daughters?" Nah.. that wouldn't work neither..... I might be called a redneck.....
So Windstrings, did you get the car through Bob Lee/National Auto Locators? Or did you give up on waiting and go through a dealer? Bob is still telling me that my package #5 (in any of three colors) is still a month out, even though I ordered just a day or two after you did (I think he told me). I'm getting tired of the wait when I see Toyota dealers here in Portland (such as Toyota of Gladstone) with new 2006 Prius sitting on their lot available. John in Portland
Wait a freakin' minute... I see your avatar on here constantly ('cause I like it!) ... and you JUST got the a Prius?!?!? I had to check for myself. WINDSTRING's INFO... Total Cumulative Posts 1,475 ( 11.2 posts per day / 0.85% of total forum posts ) Most active in Prius Main Forum ( 840 posts / 60% of this member's active posts ) Last Active Today, 10:55 AM Congrats on the car, man! But I gotta say, I guess if you don't own a Prius, you have plenty of time to post about them!
Glad you love it as we all do. If you want even more enjoyment, buy the chassis stiffening plate. It takes 5 minutes to install and makes a big improvement in the ride- especially going around curves in the road and making turns. Enjoy!
I'm glad you finally got a Prius Tony because you needed a life too  Hmmpf... I joined in July of '04 even though I had been a visitor and ordered a car in March? Wonder what took ME so long?
I get what Toyota calls the Vehicle Color And Accessory Combination Profile for the Portland Region from my dealer in the hopes that my Magnetic Grey will show up soon. The latest info for February HI Pkg #5 arrivals, the smallest % of all packages, is 49 total to be spread among 71 dealers. I don't know what colors you preferenced, but of those 49 there will be 10 CSM, 9 SP, 8 BRM, 7 SPM, 6 DP, 5 SW and 4 Black. Sounds like you or your contact will need to act quickly to get exactly what you want, and will likely involve a dealer trade. Good luck!
this silver pine mica fell into my lap so I got it.. I am still waiting with Bob for my barcelona... but there are cars out there.... here and there that are available.... I think with a little beating of the bushes, one can be found sooner, but you will most likely pay msrp. I have another on hold that is supposed to be here the 25th in port, so if bob cannot give me a definative answer by monday... I may take it.... either way I will have an extra if anybody wants it.
I read on a post somewhere here that magnetic would not be out to like april or may.. I can't remember.. but it was a ways out... I would do a search and see if you can find that..... I read it about 4 or 5 days ago. I also heard "in the news" that Toyota would hit its 60000 sold by july...
