$7500 tax credit for 2013

    So does anyone know if the $7500 tax credit is approved for 2013 for cars such as the Volt already? Like, even if we do/do not go 'over the cliff', is it a guarantee that if one were to buy a Volt (or even a PiP with the $2500 credit) in 2013 the credit will still be available?

    I do not know, I'd just like to know if the credit has been approved for 2013 basically.

    The credit will begin to be phased out for each manufacturer in the second quarter following the calendar quarter in which a minimum of 200,000 qualified plug-in electric drive vehicles have been sold by that manufacturer for use in the United States

    Thanks kitty, but that doesn't really answer my question. Has there been 200,000 Volts sold? I don't know which is why I asked in the Volt forum. I've no idea how many Volts Chevy has sold. And with the time I've been replying now i could have just googled it lmao.

    Since sales began in December 2010, a total of 28,825 Volts have been sold in the country through November 2012,[

    Not anywhere near 200k. Only been on sale 2 years and they've never hit 3k/mo.

    If there had been 200,000 Volts sold John would have had a heart attack;-P
    About 25,000 this year, I believe 7,500 last, so about 32,500 overall.

    Sounds good, thanks to you three :) I was afraid that maybe this fiscal cliff thing could maybe negate the whole credit in general irregardless of sales.

    Legislation can pass at any time to repeal a credit. Those who want to plug tax loopholes only need to stick one sentence into something that is guaranteed to pass, say a Defense Dept. appropriations bill, or a bill to raise the debt limit.

    If 200k Volts had been sold, that would be fantastic.

    But sadly, no where near that number. Perhaps 2013 will generate much higher numbers?
