Question about beeps...!

    Sometimes (but not always!) when I turn my Prius (2008) off and open the driver door, there is a constant beep. There are no interior lights left on. I think whatever I am doing wrong might be draining the 12v battery as it keeps going flat. Does anyon have any ideas? Thank-u!

    Without a lot of test's like the one JDennenberg suggests, it sounds like your key fob battery is dying (causes the long beep), and your 12 volt battery is dying. Try running the test that is recommended here on PC and also take the time to replace the key fob batteries. There are many post's here on PC that outline the two things I just mentioned.

    Here's a link on how to check the 12 volt in your Prius.

    Please run the test outlined in the above link, and post all three of the values you see.

    Also take a look at the attached file to this post. It explains the beeps heard and also details how to change the battery in the key fob.

    Thank you! I think my post was a bit unclear in one respect - when I wrote 'constant beeping', I didn't mean 1 long beep, I meant a similar repeated beep to the one you get if you leave your lights on and open the door. In any case, I shall do the check you suggest! Thank u very much.

    No big deal, none of us are perfect. Post the three (3) values of the test when you get a chance, and we can go from there.

    Near dead 12 volt battery. Do whatever you can to not have to jump start a Prius. Get a new 12 volt asap. It does not enjoy jumps at all and is potentially very dangerous to your wallet.

    This issue is the most discussed and posted here at PC.
