Low Mileage on PiP basic 2012

    Changing the charge time will not affect your mileage.

    I think that is a great idea. One thing I found that in Plug-ins including BMW Active E, they recommend using seat heaters instead of the regular heater/fan. No wonder everybody is including heated seats in base models. Thinking along the same lines, I think the reason for inclusion of Remote AC Starter even in the basic Prius PIP model (which was a surprise for me) is to cool car down in summer probably to ensure that drivers don't turn on AC at full blast and get reduced MPG. Impact of AC/Heater on MPG is certainly not that severe in prior models of Prius. Atleast it was not evident in 06 prius.
