    Hey all -
I am shopping around for a used Prius. I have 2 I am looking at a 2009 with 67,000 miles and a 2006 with 102,000 miles. The 2006 is more in our budget. But the 2009 has nice mileage. the 2006 is from a dealer...the 2009 on craigslist. Any advice? I am really new to Prius.
    Thnx! Michelle

make sure you're in a 'carb' state if you go for the 2006, that gives you 8 years 150,000 mile warranty on hybrid parts. dealer can tell you. car had to have been bought and registered new in a 'carb' state. the 09 on craigslist could be a good car, but you would have to see it, drive it, and preferably have it checked out by a dealer or good hybrid mechanic. if you're budget is tight, keep in mind that although these cars have superior reliability records, if you're unlucky enough to have something break out of warranty, it can be quite expensive. all the best!

I can't seem to find this info...but do you know if you buy a car originally registered in a CARB state then register it in a non-CARB state would it transfer?

I don't think it would. What state are you in?

From what I have read the CARB warranty does not transfer. Any other advice on a used Prius purchase?

I don't think you'll get CA/CARB emission warranty coverage if you register and operate it in NV.

You can download the 09 Prius warranty booklet from Toyota Online Owners Manuals and Service Manuals (select year and model in upper right).

I'm a ways away from you but I have an 07 Prius touring package 3 for sale. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. (We just bought a new Prius V because we needed the extra room.)It has 75000 miles, has a clear title, 7yr/100000 mile warranty that s transferable, however you probably will never need it. It's a light green, silver pine mica, have hood protector and window shields. Asking $14,000 which is below KBB. But will accept any good offers.
