A local Fire Department has asked for hybrid owners to attend a training session for their department. They basically need to see what these vehicles look like BEFORE a crash so they can better navigate a crash scene.

Has anyone participated in one of these? Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of information Fire Department personnel would find useful that we could bring out to the training? Or does anyone have any sharable info which would document where high voltage lines are located etc?

    Cheers

Right. That document is directed to first-responders and describes in detail the issues they need to know about (both electrical and chemical) with respect the the Plug-in, including how to "safe" the vehicle, such as manual disconnects of the traction battery. There is a similar document for the standard Prius. I would think that GM, Nissan, and other EV manufacturers have comparable documents.

I have let the guys at the fire station look at my car and the local chevy dealer brought out a Volt and Nissan brought a Leaf to let us play with and see where the connections were and how to manually shut off/disable.
