Has anyone ever installed a stereo in the CD changer "space" in an '02?

    My casette player died, and I need a new way to play my Ipod. It seems that nobody makes a face plate for the 02 prius, and getting the Toyota stereo fixed is expensive. I noticed that there is an empty space in my dash where the CD player would go. Has anyone ever had a stereo installed there?

    If only the casette player died, but the stereo still plays FM get an FM transmitter for your Ipod. You can buy them very cheap on ebay ($7 I think). I have the Itrip and bought it on ebay. I also have two generic ones from ebay and they all work the same. Tune into a "fuzzy" station and match the frequency on the FM transmitter. I have no issues with mine and I love it.

    There are also several devices that you can install invisibly inside the dash and plug straight into the factory radio, that generally will give you an iPod cable (where you can control the iPod and see album/track titles on your MFD) and an aux input/USB/etc. The one I installed came from DICE Electronics (search this forum for DICE iPod thingy), and there are others. When I installed the DICE I found a couple of wires needed rearranging in the harness that came with it (no modifications to the car though), and mlibanio has posted about a similar gadget from a different source that was truly plug-and-play with no wire massaging.

    Yes, I have done it and it is awesome. I installed the Dual XDMA 6630. It costs about $100 and it has BT, CD, MP3, Ipod control, USB and aux. Its a pain to install but, has a lot to offer for $100.
