Opinions are like A Holes

    And I want yours, (opinion that is).

    I'm looking to purchase a 2010 Prius II with smart key system. It has 48k miles, it has been in a collision that involved the drivers side front end, but has been fully repaired. It does have a damage disclosure. It is a CPO. And I've got them down to $14,619 out the door. This is thousands less then any gen 3 that I've seen. It's only 600 dollars more then what i paid for my 08 with 30k miles.

    The biggest thing I don't know anything about is the damage disclosure. Does that affect insurance, or future repairs if involved in an accident?

    About 98% sure i'm going to be buying this on Friday, so any and all input before then would be great.

    Be aware that the 2010 was defeatured. There may be stuff in your 2008 that the 2010 doesn't have. The big difference is that the SKS works only on the driver's door. Register the VIN to see if the dealer repaired the damage.

    Repaired damage doesn't have an affect on future repairs in NJ but that is a good question for your insurance company. The car appears to be well maintained. If it was only cosmetic damage then I don't see it as a big deal.

    The salesman told me that the damage was repaired by the previous owner and several thousand miles before the lease was up. I would assume to get certified everything would have to be up to snuff. I do plan to call my insurance company tomorrow and ask them about damage disclosures

    Also, i'm keeping the 08, the old lady wants to get rid of her gas guzzler

    In addition to having a mechanic give it the once-over, if you know a good body shop, have them take a look. You might even wait to disclose the prior repair to see if they pick up on it. But they should be able to see if everything is straight with suspension, etc., if they check out the repaired area. As long as it wasn't a salvage vehicle, your insurance company shouldn't care.

    I agree with "rogerv", just be sure the suspension check includes a front end alignment check.
