I also got my EV mode unit from Coastal last week and installed it.

Cut my hands up a couple of times from sharp edges and working in the tight space but it went in pretty easily, about 45 mins to install.

In using it a couple of times I think that EV only mode is overrated. With the slightest of acelleration or going up a small hill the ICE kicks in. As posted in the past the batteries are only good for around 2 miles as well.

It sure sounds good but I think that knowing what I do now that I would not have spent the money to get it.

Amen to the cut hands. Look around there are a few areas where you can use the EV mode to your advantage!

I just got notified that the NAV mod will be here on the 26th of Jan. No word on the BT mode yet, I noticed that the BT mod is sold out. Glad I ordered it back in October. As anybody tried this with the factory NAV version of CAN-VIEW yet?

My guess is that it will work as it just sends the touch data to MFD. The question in my mind is what order do you plug them in, Coastal Tech first or second. We should ask Norm what he thinks. I already asked him and he does not think the Coastal Tech will harm the car or the CAN-View, but now that we know how it works we should re frame the question.

I just recieved a UPS tracking notice from Coastal saying they are shipping my NAV kit.

I instructed them a while back that I really only wanted the Bluetooth component to which they replied, they would hold the shipment until that part was ready since the Bluetooth piggybacks onto the NAV kit.

So - could it be true that the entire NAV/BT kit is shipping? I'll guess I'll find out next week when I get the package.

So I also just received a tracking number for what is referenced as a "nav kit" -- is that the no-nag enhancement for factory nav?

Back in March I did order the Viewtech which will allow a third party nav kit -- any idea which item they're talking about? Unfortunately, I don't have factory nav so they may be sending me the wrong thing...if so, anybody here interested in it? It arrive feb 6

I ordered a NAV kit when they were first offered last February (2005!). After waiting nearly a year, I cancelled my order last month and instructed them they weren't authorized to charge my card. I even received a reply saying they would never charge my card because they were a reputable company.

This morning, I received a UPS shipping notice via email. Go figure...

Ok - I was wrong. . . Just got an email from Kelley stating they made a mistake with my order since the Bluetooth module is not shipping yet. They retracted my order and credited my credit card.

Try this : http://priuschat.com/List-of-known-hacks-e...gs--t12526.html. A "dance" is a series of actions that you have to do to cause the car to do something either diagnostic or to modify its opperation such as turning off the back up beep. I do not know but I think DanMan coined this term. Here is the Nav disable "dance" for 04-05 (does not work on the 06) :
    Navigation Motion Override

    1)Push MENU Button on bezel

    2)Tap the VOLUME soft button

3)Tap top left of screen (where the speaker icon is), then the bottom left, then top left again and finally the bottom left again.

**Perform these taps in rapid sequence. Do not be tentative or it might not work.

    4)The Service Menu should appear.

5)Press and hold the OVERRIDE soft button until it beeps and is highlighted.

Full NAV function should now be available until you shut down the car. This can be engaged while in motion but must be repeated each time the car is restarted.

Be cautious experimenting within the Service Menu as you could cause yourself some problems with your Prius is you push the wrong combination of buttons.

Note the caution at the end there are buttons in the service menu that will hose your Nav System. Don't fool around unless you are willing and able to fix the problems!

Kelly called me on the 12th of January and left a message if I still wanted the NAV kit. I decided to get the NAV kit so I called her on the 13th and said OK to ship. It was very easy to install. the only hitch being that you lose a few settings (not your POIs) when you first power up. As mentioned before when you press the DEST button it does the dance for you. I mean you see every screen that you would if you did it yourself.

If the BT defeat plugs into the NAV kit, then maybe there's a dance for that was well.

I don't know but I don't think so. There is no picture for the Bluetooth now on their Web site but there was one in the past and it showed a long wire with a connector on it. I am guessing it goes to a tap that goes to a wire somewhere and that this is a variant of the present hardware mod that you can do yourself if you wish. I believe Efusco has done this and it disables the signal that the wheels are turning. I could be wrong but that is how it looks to me.

That's possible, but it was sold in conjuntion with the NAV kit. If the NAV kit isn't needed for the BT override, why sell it like that?

Their site no longer has the BT override listed so I guess there's no way of knowing until it's back up on the site and somebody gets one.

This is the first time I've really seen Coastal making an effort to let us know what's going on. I certainly hope their time table is accurate for the release of the BT on the NAV kit.

In any event, I wish them all the best with their new daughter.

Well, even after they sent an email saying the order was cancelled and they would never charge my card - they did just that. Now, I have to hassle with disputing the charge with my cc company. This company is just plain amateur!

akaab, my order has yet to be filled, even though I ordered before many of those here. Let me see if I can reach these guys tomorrow. If they have no record of the order, will you sell me your NAV kit?

I also received email notification that they were shipping the Nav enhancement module to me. Too bad I'd cancelled the order last October (see back a few pages and I mentioned that).

I sent 'em an email, (their 800 number doesn't work!) and they were able to cancel the shipment before it actually 'shipped'. I love that these folks are addressing this market, but it would be nice if they got their act together!

My wife and I are both perfectly happy doing the nav 'dance' when we need it. She was a bit nervous about adding a mod like this in anyway.

Interesting. I got a message from Kelly on the 12th of January asking if I still wanted the kit. I called her on the 13th and said yes. It arrived on the 21st. I just presumed that they would call all the people who ordered the kit to see if they still wanted it.

I just received my NAV Kit today. I'm a bit ticked off though, because I ordered the Bluetooth device with it, and Coastal says they would ship the Bluetooth along with the NAV kit.
