Ignore members like The Dude. There will always be a segment of Prius owners who ask themselves what are 17" wheels doing on the Prius yet visit the Modifications forum anyway for no good reason and throw the "irrelevant" (or "illegal") card to the mods they see.

Brilliant and much-needed comment! Thanks for reminding me why we really modify our cars!

I think your mods are well done and clean. Much better than most. I can't tell you how many cars i see with half a$$ body kits falling off, cracked and not painted

Have fun with your car. I have been there..I think most people have at one point in their lives. I can respect personalization when done well, even if it isn't my taste.

I visit the mods section for ideas that may interest me, especially in terms of functionality of particular mods. Yes, I am most definitely a function over form guy. I never intended anyone's feelings to get hurt by my "lol bug" but a man can certainly get his laughs when something tickles him, can't he? Just as you can complain about my behavior, I can poke a bit of fun at the form over function guys. I've been around show cars as well as the race scene (mostly local stuff) for as long as I can remember, and there is ALWAYS a bit of fun to be had between the function and form guys. The "all show" guys love to make things shiny and "look" fast and we "all go" guys love to discuss the insignificance of those shiny parts that cost a ton of money. In addition to browsing the mods section for possible ideas for my Prius, I just enjoy reading and talking about cars in general, and will read the same car rag all month long until my new issue arrives, and the same goes for this and other sites, I just browse the same forums over and over, simply because I love cars.

All in good fun, no harm done.

Kind of reminds me how years ago people would five finger discount Mercedes emblems and put them on their Car.

I agree. It makes it look bad...awesome....sweet....smoking....hot.....cool....nice....banging..... I could go on. Or perhaps you meant to say rebadging. If so, then this is in honor of your opinion:

Perhaps this emblem would have been less threatening or offensive to those who are feeling so particularly attached to their Toyota emblems:

Hey! I haven't done anything yet (it's still in the body shop)...However, I bought the main engine cover from a certain year RX300 (I've slept since then), and it has the one Lexus emblem on it that is the correct size for our steering wheel. I just haven't had the car for almost 16 months to have the chance to do the swap. I assumed you were referring to the steering wheel emblem situation......but I did entertain the idea of installing a white steering wheel at one time, which I have the same as dismissed now. I still am Jonesing to get all the electrical stuff hooked up. Every time I've thought we were done with the body stuff, I've brought it home and then had to take it right back. Right now I'm having a few paint goofs corrected and I've sent my headlights back to have some stuff tweaked....so it's still gone. Good thing is, though, I haven't put any miles on my car in over a year! :)

Why didn't you just buy a GS450h? Would have been a nice balance between the camaro and the prius and it would have saved you $ as it would come stock with all of the Lovely "L" badges you love? I don't mind a rebadge when the spirit is there, if you put ALL the M parts on your 3 series and want to throw an M on there, if you have a bunch of JDM on your Acura and want to badge it a Honda, more power to you. If you just don't like the letter T, I don't think the letter L is much better, would have been neat if you spent the time and money on something more creative that could have been inspiring instead of polarizing....

That's a pretty long time to go without your ride. Can't wait to see the finished product.

My mother bought it for me. She called me from work one day and told me to go pick out 2 cars for her to decide on buying for me. I picked out the Camaro for speed and styling and the Prius for the technology and fuel economy factors. The GS450H isn't a design I would care to own, by the way. I see them everywhere on the highway. Regardless, my mother decided on the Prius because she liked the fuel economy and the room inside to carry things (as opposed to the tiny storage space of the Camaro). So, that's the car I got. My main reason for the emblem change was due to my extreme dislike of the "T" that Toyota uses. Then I began researching more about the Prius, and I discovered all the countless Toyota owners in Japan who ALL put the "L" on their cars, plus various body kit companies also placed the "L" emblems on their Prius body kit pictures, and they have the "L" on the modified Prii at the car shows that are featured online. I researched making custom emblems, but they had to be manufactured in amounts of 1,000. So, after buying probably 70 different emblems to experiment with....spending every single spare moment of each day of the week....buying countless car modification magazines.....sitting at the computer for the entire night every day of the week for almost a year.....constantly obsessing over what to do.... I finally decided that the Prii examples I viewed online which had the "L" emblems were what best represented the look I was desiring. I have since used countless parts from numerous Lexus models on my car; I have modified various Lexus parts to fit the car; and I have designed the whole back bumper and rear exhaust using specific styling cues from a number of Lexus models. After the original emblems were all removed when the old bumpers were removed, and the new emblem-less body kit bumpers were installed, the no-emblem look was very weird and unfinished looking. The "T" was DEFINITELY out of place to put on the car at that point. After spending what seemed to be my entire life the last couple years on all of this constant searching, experimenting, modifying, and decision-making about emblems and body design, I ended up with what I have now, minus a number of other things that still remain to be done.... So, all that blah blah was the long way of saying simply that I was bought this car, and I couldn't have spent another second of my life devoted to the whole emblem/body design saga if I had wanted to. It totally consumed my brain and every spare second of my life for about 1 1/2 years. At this point, I'm exhausted! lol... I'm just ready for it all to be done with now so I can actually enjoy the car and not feel the weight of all the unfinished things hanging over my head constantly. I'm already mentally exhausted from the requirements of my current care-taking role, so lately I don't seem to have the oomph left to devote much more to this whole car endeavor. Like I said, I am just really ready to be able to drive a completed car again and to enjoy what I put my blood, sweat, and tears into.

I know. I just got my headlights back, so I thot I actually was going to get my car body put back together, but one of the headlights has the wiring hanging out in front of the high beam....and there's no way to get the wiring hidden back behind the visible part again without taking the headlight apart. SO...it really never seems to end! Looks like now I have to ship my headlights back to be fixed. So, here comes some more added waiting!
