We haven't had a good cat thread in awhile.

I'm gonna report this to PETA as a dragging death.

 

I started reading the top of the picture as I was scrolling and was worried my ex-cat Jeff finally made it to the Internet... despite veterinary attention for an "exhaust issue", he would scoot across the floor like a dog... and despite his royal fatness, he could do it with speed and elegance and in a straight line. His motto would be "Live Free and Drag..." He is a Garfield like orange tabby with a penchant for catnip and food in copious quantities. His diet was regulated but he'd find the dog's food and start noshing on that... he'd knock over the garbage until I locked it in the garage.

Unfortunately he also left skid marks ... even if I did not witness it, my kitchen floor often told a short story... Thank Gawd for gloves, bleach and tools that scrub well.

Another Jeff story - he was an indoor cat once we adopted him and he got out and my GSP "treed" him as hunting is her life and even if it was a fat tabby, the chase was fun. Well, he made it about five feet up the trunk, got tired from the effort and Bridget was now trying to peel him off the tree, jumping off the ground with the energy a GSP has - two speeds - off and high.

I boosted Jeff's fat backside up over six feet to safety. He was not the brightest bulb in the tanning bed (I think prolonged exposure to Cosmic Catnip had something to do with that) and he could not figure out how to get down. For three hours he was up the tree.

I tried to assist him but he conveniently forgot that the cat weight-to-maple-branch-weight-holding ratio rule of thumb and the twig he selected to crawl out to me on, was not a good choice. He lost his balance and fell spread-eagled onto the ground with a thud (I think it was measured as a slight tremor on a Richter scale somewhere....). If life was a cartoon he would have created a cat shaped hole in the ground. Luckily for him I scooped him up, brought him back inside and lectured him on why he should not eat so **** much. He was panting lightly and had a "Whoa, dude!" look on his face but only his pride was injured.

When I left the house he raided the cupboard.

 

We have owned our cat since April of 2003 and she was fine with our 80 lb Charpee (Sp?) / Sheppard mix. Almost a year the wife decided we HAD to have a couple of Chiuaua (Sp?) mix pups too. I weighed them the other day and Dewey Cheatum Andhow (the cat) is 7.5 lbs while Hope is 6.5 and Faith is 8. They have been getting along fine with the cat tolerating them and even coming up to sniff them while they are resting or asleep. Now, for about a week straight, if they are not on the couch or in their pen the cat flat out hisses and shortly afterwards attacks them like we have never seen before! Any ideas? She's always kind of pawed at them if they bothered her, no nails involved, but now she has turned into a living chainsaw! She look like Morris the cat. She is not fixed, so I have no idea on what is going on. She never attacked the 80 lb one, played with it a lot!

 

By any chance did Jeff look anything like this cat?




An internet friend near Philadelphia with a cat that obviously ate a cheesesteak or two.
He peaked at 22 pounds, and later had to have medicated food for diabetis.

 

Jeff was pushing 30... huge, huge cat. In all fairness to him, he was two years old and 12 lbs when we adopted him... he got neutered and while he is not populating the world he is consuming it.

Will have to dig pictures out of his royal fatness.
