I was checking the air pressure on my spare earlier and found these just sitting next to the tire. One is a white clip looking piece about 1.5" long and the other is what appears to be a cover of some sort and it measures approximately 3.25" long and 1.5" wide.

    Any ideas what these are???

    Input would be appreciated.

Btw, 2010 II is what I have. Thanks everyone. 2013-02-17_23-43-53_941.jpg 2013-02-17_23-44-12_515.jpg

    Hi Dude,

I'm not sure about the clip, but the black rectangular cover was fitted into a matching hole in the large plastic bin, that is placed over the spare wheel.

I removed mine as the hole forms the handle for lifting up the bin to access the spare wheel.

I didn't replace mine, I put it in a box with my wheel covers.

    Cheers, Steve

Thank you Steve. Glad to know that it's not a "critical" performance component! Now about that plastic clip...man this thing's absolutely full of plastics...sad really

IIRC, the black plastic cover is for access to the hatch release if the 12V battery goes belly up.

Nope. If you look through the tray where the hole is, you'll see the manual release for the rear hatch. That's so you can get to it while the tray's still in the car.
