I would be nervous to try all that on my own. I think I will have my salesman help me with it.

Would they help with it though? I would think they wouldn't since they added it as a safety feature?

I would just like to be able to disable to passengers seat belt. If I put something heavy on the passengers seat the seat belt alarm goes off. <_<

You can disconnect the wire that goes to that seat belt. Just look under the seat for the wire going to the connector, you will see that it has a connector you can just pull out, it won't beep anymore.

It's easy, click the YES in benighted's post above which is for the reverse beeper. If you read the "additional note" at the bottom of the directions you will see it is also for the seatbelt beepers, either seat depending on which belt you buckle/unbuckle.

StarBrite, if you are uncomfortable doing this and the dealer won't help you get one of your "techno geek" friends. I really don't think you can mess anything up by trying it yourself though. You may be able to do more than you think you can.

    Yes.

But then I installed a beeper in the back left taillight so it can be heard both outside AND inside.

Had to do it. My Mom freaked so often when I backed out of the driveway it was the only way to shut her up.

Dude, this is an internet message board... Not an Expository Writing class at Yale. A lot of people post from the seat-of-their-pants, as I do sometimes, no biggie, as long as the point gets across...

Plus she's got some legit questions I'm interested in reading about.

    :)

At first I found the reverse beep annoying but now I'm used to it. Plus it's saved me plowing forward into the garage wall a couple of times. I've flipped the gear shift, looked into the rear view mirror and realized the blasted beeper wasn't beeping. Checked the display. Whadda ya know? Still in drive.

There might be a legal issue as well. Bet a Prius' computer keeps all settings in memory. A dealer would be able to tell if the reverse beeper was turned off when the car was driven up over the car parked in front of it.

    That does happen, really!

I always look at the gear indicator before moving because sometimes it doesn't take the gear if you shift too soon or too quickly.

Just disabled mine tonight (thanks to this thread). Ah, so much quieter now! The backup camera is a pretty big hint to which "gear" I'm in, so I don't think I'll miss the beep.

I would like to know how to install a beeper so it can be heard on the outside and inside. Please tell me how to do this. (Make it easy, I'm old and slow.)

I wrote up some directions. These are based on other directions from other Priuschat posters. I put them together, added more explanation and pictures.

How to install a backup beeper.

Damn, I wish I was closer to Santa Clarita so you could do it for me (terrfied of f$%@ing up the car or warranty)... My clients think I'm driving a school bus everytime I back out of a driveway. I have to let them know that it's only inside the car so I don't seem like a total douche.
