Show them the 2012 brochure and call it false advertising. Don't give in.

BoM error happens. A friend of mine had a Tundra that was NOT supposed to have ABS brakes but it in fact did, so he got the feature for free. Trouble was, he could not get insurance discount, because when they ran the VIN, the database indicated he did not have ABS. He had to pop the hood and show it to the insurance agent to get it documented.

I will check with them. I don't have a brochure - can anybody show where it points out this feature should be standard on my car?

The dealer is a couple hours away. All people chiming in so far with Twos have the button and from what I hear the brochure says all Twos should have it.

Has anybody ever seen a Two without the button?

It sounds like a shortage and error on the build sheet. Have never heard of a Gen III, Model II without a EV feature.

My 2012 Prius 2 has an EV button. The only extra feature I got was floor mats.

It was listed as a 2012 Prius Two. It was the dealer's loaner car until I bought it with 4k on the odometer. It has the following features:

    Smart Key system
    Cruise control
    Rear Wiper

It does not have the following:

    Touch tracer display
    EV mode
    Rear tonneau cover
Don't know if side mirrors are heated?
    Rear armrest with 2 cupholders
Passenger-seatback pocket (I have one on driver side seatback)
    Foldable rear headrests
Not sure about underbody spoilers and spats

How do you buy a car and not inspect it? Good idea to spend some time just walking around the car in the daylight. Sitting and asking questions, test driving. Then a final exam, then after an hour or so talk numbers. All Gen III package 2's have EV mode. What did you pay for this car? I'd be jumping on someone's desk.

While it's a great idea to inspect the car, there are reasonable limits to the "inspection." After dealing with the sales people for hours on end, we all just want to go home in our fat new ride!

But, his list is for a Prius 1 fleet car. If the dealer gave you the window sticker, it may have the buttons listed. The sticker for my 2011 3 had them listed.

Well, I agree it isn't the thing I enjoy most in life either. It is the $26,000 investment I am considering that gets my and keeps my focus. I look and look, it better be freakin perfect or I'm not paying for it.

that seems an odd list of features. i would go back to the dealer and have it out with the salesperson/salesmanager. what car did they advertise and what car did they sell you? ev is no big deal, imo, but that is quite a list of missing features.

price is important here. for the right price, you can ignore it all and add ev yourself if you want it and can find it. if the price is wrong, it's false advertising.

Well, I think the worst case is you live with things as is. The dealership doesn't help, and the salesman is a dirt ball.
The best case is they fix this at no cost, apologize and make you a happy costumer.
I'm betting on something in between.
It also depends on what all you signed in the paperwork. If you signed that you agreed everything was acceptable and you did an inspection, well they may feel you agreed to this car.
No matter what it will be alright.

Yea it's not a big deal really. It seems like the EV button would be easy enough to add myself which is why I started this thread. I just don't know where it connects to but I haven't really looked yet. At least now I know why I haven't seen anybody post a thread about doing this "mod" when it's standard on the vast majority of models out there!

Did you purchase your Prius new or used?
