    Toyota of Tacoma...Larson.
First I went to Titus-Will because I had good experience with them before...then the salesman (George) asked how much I was willing to put down before I even knew the price range of the cars....and offered 3k less than low blue book on trade in. I left. Called Titus-Will today to see if they had Prius I wanted...Dan Kerns was very helpful even though he knew I had already purchased the vehicle. I wish I had met him before George...things might have gone much better.

I picked up my Nautical Blue Prius Four this afternoon...

Maybe I got spoiled having all the extras in my last car or maybe I simply spent good money on a quality car...all I know is that when I sat down...adjusted the lumbar support, the heated seats kicked in and stereo started up...I nearly cried.

I didn't compromise this time. I got exactly what I wanted and I love the car...I feel like I honored my wants and my needs..totally worth the money and experience.

Don't get me wrong...I'll need to work a bit more and skim a bit from here and there...but at least it will be for a car I love and not for a car that fell just short from being perfect.

Thank you for all the support, advice and encouragement!

In the fall of '11, I started to look at the Prius. My first dealer visit was Toyota of Tacoma (Larson). I had a very frustrating experience with their sales staff. I then went to Titus-Will and Dan Kearns of the first person to walk out on the the lot and ask if we needed help (I hate it when the sales people descend on you as soon as you get out of the car). I politely told him that I wanted to look around first without being tailed. He politely acknowleged and went back inside. After browsing the lot, I went back to look for Dan.

Dan Kearns was make the whole buying experience a pleasure. He was very knowledgeable in all aspects of the Prius. He knew when to back off and let us sit in the car and admire it while we (wife and I) discussed it. We took a test drive in the liftback with George. He was very patient with us. Went back to the dealership and Dan just handed us the keys to a V and said "Go drive it. Take it as long as you need to. I'll answer any questions when you come back". Needless to say, we bought the V and Dan was instrumental in searching the right car for us (exchange with another dealer). He then helped us select the aftermarket leather.

When we sat down to start signing, he mentioned that the finance lady would talk to us about the extended warranty. I told her that I would think about it. The next day I finished the paperwork with Dan. He then asked if we had made a decision on the extended warranty. I said after consideration I felt we didn't need it. He was happy with the answer and didn't mention it again.

Like I said, the experience with Titus-Will was and continues to be exceptional.

I'm sorry that Larson was such a pain in the a$$.

Does Toyota always push for the extended warranty? I've bought a lot of cars over the years (BMW, Audi, etc.), but never from Toyota (my Prius is a company car) and not once did any salespeople asked or pushed for an extended warranty. I know it's extra big bucks for the salesman.

I totally agree with your decision. I once bought a Civic I wanted blue or silver. I bought brown. I never liked that car. Oh, it ran fine, no big problems, but every time I walked out to get in I frowned, every time I'd see silver or blue, I frowned. Couldn't wait to dump that car.
Getting the upscale models, usually is worth it too. Not for the value, because I think it a big money maker for them, but the personal satisfaction is huge.
Some of the things my 2013 4 that fell short for me was the NAV sucked, the Entune is ho humm at best. Mine didn't have 17" wheels, and no solar sun roof.
Mine was 27.4k. The 17" wheels look really nice, but the ride isn't as nice and mpg drop.
So, it's blue, it gets great mpg, leather electrical seats, dark interior, great sound system, love the car!

I agree with you...although I probably would have been happy with any color except white or silver....until I saw this particular shade of blue. My first car was a bright pink VW bug...and I loved it, even when I was sitting on the side of the road with it. I know it was $1200...because that was a good amount of money 20 years ago and when I was 16! I haven't loved a car since...they've been reliable, practical and functional but no passion...

After talking with Dan, I will do service and such with Titus-Will and make sure that I tell anybody that asks to go to him.

And they pushed the extended warranty hard...really hard...and implied that I'd be an idiot if I didn't get it. I'd feel stupid pushing the warranty, mostly because logically it doesn't make sense. The car's supposed to be reliable and have few problems...but it's such a POS that you need to buy a warranty because it's going to break down and cost a ton.

And I have to go in to talk to the hard sale person in order to cancel it...oh, and don't I know that Toyota only backs warranties sold at dealerships...so it's got to be a scam for me to buy it anywhere else.

The good news is...Larson got the trade-in. I hated that car. It was a 2009 Ford Escape Limited...I swear something was wrong with it...although I was told numerous times it was fine. I bought it with the thought of drive it until it dies mentality, but after 4 years of being frustrated and irritated, it was time. The Prius has better pick up and probably just as much cargo space.

I almost purchased the Three. I was very close. I drove it, brought my trade in car and check book.

I wanted the adjustable seats with heat so I left with no purchase.

So I purchased the 4 with the Solar Roof upgraded stereo ,HUD and larger Nav screen. I never looked back. Worth the extra $.

Toyota is so reliable and the Prius has been in production for over 12 years. The extra Warranty is not needed.

Looks like you got what you wanted. CONGRATS ! Drive it in good health.

I'd be happy with a plain fabric seated Two for a daily driver and keep my Four for weekend cruises :D

2 more months and I get to take my baby out of storage :)

I'm glad you got the car you wanted. You still have the Customer Satisfaction Survey that means something to someone...
