Sorry, I looked through the FAQ and didn't see this. Does anyone know when they plan to release the PiP for sale in all markets? Specifically Texas?

I thought nation-wide roll out is toward the end of 2013?

What's the reason for the limited west coast and northeast region only availability?

I still haven't made the jump, would be nice to know if pip is coming to Texas 2014 and if there are any changes verses 2013 pip?

The dealers I've talked to in Houston don't seem to know. The general sales manager at one dealer is biting at the bit.

Yep, Toyota's website states this date. A year ago, they were saying just "2013", but when they redesigned the website a month ago, this changed to "late 2013".

There were 14 PiP roll-out states in 2012
    CA OR WA AZ
VA MD ME MA NJ NH CT RI VT NY
(if my memory is correct) I am not sure why it takes so long to go nationwide but training and car supply are two factors.

Because they weren't sure how well they would sell (look at the incentives they had to offer to bring down the supply in New England)? Because there's not much profit in them? Because if they had sold well they could never have kept up with demand? Because there was some sort of limit on how may li-on battery packs could be produced?

Straight from the horse's mouth (my contact at Gulf States Toyota):

"The Plug in is a fantastic car and we are excited about finally getting them later this year. The latest news from Toyota is we will have them available for sale in our 5 states (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi) sometime in Q4."

What is the reason Toyota does not put pip for sales for all states?

Reaction to rollout of other plug-in vehicles has become a decision factor. The most likely, the focus now is to penetrate deeper into the initial states instead of rolling out to the others. It's part of that "wait until the second year" mindset... especially seeing how slow and how much negative press the others have received.

Knowing that Prius is well established and that the plug-in model is really just a package upgrade will help it reach mainstream buyers. So, taking advantage of that opportunity to do exactly that rather than spreading thin to other states does make sense.

ArkLaMiss is common here for the range of the Delta.
