I'm not qualified to give official advice, but my understanding is that if you do this mod and have something fail that is not a direct result of or linked to what was tied into for this mod, then you should have no warranty issues. If you blow something in the electrical or it looks like you did as a result of the mod, then I could see where the dealer would give you a hard time.

I would say that you should always take on any mod at your own risk though.

Best way to tap the postive wire for the puddle lights is to tap it from the power switch button(aka ground blue wire in the A pillar). Save's you a LOT of time and a LOT of bending and twisting.

Need some help here guys. Don't know if there is a difference between the 2012 and 2013. Also don't know if wiring are different between trim levels two /three and five. I got every thing connected and figured out except for the passenger turn signal tap. Tried all the sky blue color in the passenger foot panel and I still could not get the right wire and now I'm stuck. :(

If you are trying the sky blue wire in pin 53 and it is not correct, then I suggest that you go to the Toyota site mentioned and pull the specs for the 2013 model. 15 bucks for two days access. When I was last on, there was no difference for two vs four or five, just call outs for where there was differences in the models ( I.e - if led headlights then follow this circuit if not follow another.

May I suggest that you remove the front under carriage plastic panel and take a look at the color of the passenger side turn signal wire. I did replace the whole light with the combination led and drl but did not memorize the wire color because that was the plug and play modification.
    Good luck

I went ahead and tap it from the rear. I believe there is a difference in color codes. My parking light on the driver side was dark green instead of light green. Yellow was still turn signals. The harness diagram was different in the passenger side. Waiting for OWG for his picture to compare.

Just a heads up guys. Initially used the green wire at the power switch for the puddle lights. When using the green wire from the power switch, it is a positive power wire - meaning you have to use the white wire from the puddle light. The black wire goes to ground or negative. This set up works the same way the OP posted. The problem with this setup is, the puddle lights are not as brighter. I have not measured the voltage yet but will do so later. I noticed the difference when I had my Priuses side by side at night. So I need to rewire my setup with the white to constant (+) and the black to the aka blue wire in the A pillar when I get a chance.

I have a 2012 v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) 5 like you. Also cannot tap into right side (passenger) marker/turn signal lights, as there are NO wires in pins 53 and 68. Suspect the 5 IS wired differently, although the TIS tech.toyoyo.com says that's where the wires are. Tried other green and sky blue pin wires without any success like you. How and where did you tap into the rear lights directly? HELP!

As has been mentioned, the diagram for the passenger side needs to be reversed and rotated upside down. THEN the pin positions are correct. Got the marker and turn signals working on both sides.

On a trim level five v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon), there is NO thin blue wire to connect the puddle light black wire to in the A-pillar. The heavily encased thick blue wire is actually a shielded wire for the bluetooth microphone and has a red and black wire inside. It is NOT the correct wire. The only wires in the A-Pillar are white, red, black, and white with black stripe. I am looking for a correct ground wire so that the puddle lights come on when the doors are unlocked, other than going into the overhead lamps or impossible ECU above the gas pedal.

Has ANYONE actually installed the puddle lights using a negative wire in the air pillar? Help!

FINALLY got the puddle lights working. On a Trim level 5, the infamous "blue wire" is actually 3 light-blue wires encased alongside each other in a plastic ribbon. One of the outside wires is the negative trigger wire. In order to tap in, you have to cut in between the wires with a razor blade to separate the wires. Even then, I could not get the taps to work, so ran a wire to the rear dome light and then used the end of the wire furthest away from the dome bulb to tap in. Ran wires from the passenger side to connect the positive wire to the footwell light tap, and the black wire to the other black wire from the A-pillar tap. All in all, VERY frustrating, but I'm very pleased with how the lights look. Just keep in mind that wiring wiring on a v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) in the A-pillars is VERY different than the hatchback Prius; at least in trim level 5. So not all Priuses are the same.

Just did mine yesterday, for my EU version prius wagon in NL.

    A few tips:
*Better to remove 2 screws holding the ECU, there will be more room to play with. (Still quite tight room)
*It is easier to remove the connector first then tap to pin52.
*EU version prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) also use color code pink for pin 52.

*My prius wagon has already turn signal in the mirror, so I just connect then inside door. color code: WHITE-ground / PINK- active high.

First time to post, guys! Hello!
Have anyone installed this setup on a 2016 Prius V Five? Too excited to have this done I have already bought mine from an eBay seller (MIT seller) they confirmed the set will fit my 2016 V Five (w/o ATP)
I am in need of light to guide me on the install.
Thanks and sorry if I may have resurrected the dead.
Btw, I bought my set with an unpainted mirror cover because I wanted to paint it on a different shade of grey (Magnetic Grey Metallic is my body color) for a contrast in my small-looking V.
    Cheers!

I'm actually curious on how bright the LEDs are for the turn signals? The ones form MIT on eBay seems to be the consensus for everyone.

I installed OEM Scion IQ mirror covers and turn signals on our 2012 Prius v Five - perfect fit. The Scion mirror covers are metallic grey but they look nice (sporty!) with the blizzard pearl metallic paint and black panoramic roof. I wanted only OEM parts due to the number of exterior mirrors a certain person in our household has trashed including one of the original exterior mirror covers on this car.

A link to my install thread is in my signature.

Oh yes, I've read through your post and considered that route as well! That panoramic roof works very well with the metallic grey mirror covers!

    Thanks mate!

I think after watching clearer videos on youtube of the "JDM" style lights, I think i'll go that route. Reason being, the Scion iQ turn signal light seems to only blink at the corners whereas the JDM style is a whole LED strip along with the tip flashing. Plus you have options for DRL and flood lighting :)

Ordered just the 3 in 1 mirror turn signals from aliexpress as I did not want to spend almost $195 for paint code 781 covers. Hard to swallow when a pair of LED turn signals with painted mirror covers for the Elantra costs just $60. The pair cost less than $31. None of the pictures show there is so much plastic protruding from the cover.

I had to grind and file the back side below the crease to try to get the existing covers to snap in without much of a gap.

For the 2014 Prius v, OL1-22 is red and not lavender. Rather than wiring the puddle ground to 2A-52, which I couldn't find anyway, I chose the other end behind the map lights at U3-6. Instead of OL1-22, I used U3-1. I ran the leads down the A pillar, just like the EC mirror install.

My blue footwell LED strips connect to U3-1 and U3-7. They come on and go out just like the puddles, but the map light switch also controls them.

All of the other lead locations and colors are correct. Thanks to OWG for doing the research.

Someone in the Prius forum mentioned the LEDs are quite dim. This is true.

For those that tried to do what OWG did on the puddle/courtesy lights, IS THIS the pink wire that needs to be tapped? 20170614_003937.jpg

Also, I'm kind of confused... if the Black wire is ground, why does OWG say to tap the turn signal mirror's Black to the Pink wire up there in the ECU?

Kepik - I chose the other end to make my connection since it was easier than the ECU connector. They are the same electrically. Just follow the lines on the wiring diagram that OWG posted initially. Hope this helps you.

So the pink wire that I thought was the puddle turned out to be the wrong one. I found another THICKER pink wire behind it. Honestly, wasn't actually too hard to get to and tap it. I didn't do your way because I tend to leave my map lights switched off. I like the darkness when I'm inside my vehicle... The brightness on these Avest LED signal mirrors are sick, especially the sequential arrow function!
