DEV ROOT are my plates. They were on my 2005 Prius, and are finally on my PiP (had to wait to get the 2005 Prius registered in WA state before I could put them on here in CA).

Geeky explanation of the plate: DEV are my initials, I'm a Unix/Linux Sysadmin at work, ROOT is the super-user/administrator login for Unix/Linux, and /dev/root used to be the primary drive that Unix was installed on.

I briefly thought about DEV PLUG for a new set of vanity plates.

Hey! That's when Bob Dylan switched to a Plug-in! He was way ahead of us. And like us, he was met with skepticism from his contemporaries when he made the switch.

Are we allowed to be creative with vanity plate names even if we don't have vanity plates? Assuming so, here's one I came up with for Honda's new midsize plug-in:

    "A CORD"

I must admit, that's an awesome one...

Not mine, but I did see EKOLIMO the other day on a Prius.

:D Mine, "R3VOLTN" is almost self explanatory if seen on my Prius Plug-In, R3VOLTN. Revolting against high fuel prices, gas guzzlers, and a play on the rechargeable Prius. REVOLTN, with the letter "O" and a zero were both taken. I like the number 3 in lieu of E, as another form of revolt. Personalized plates, love 'em or hate 'em.

Did you have to wait until you got your regular plates in the mail before you ordered the Yosemite plates? We just bought our PiP last weekend and I also would like to order the Yosemite plates but not sure of the timing. Any help is appreciated! :)

Mine's from my '04 Prius: GAS + EMF. While the use of "EMF" for "electromotive force" isn't quite on the mark in its use here, it's served me well through my (now) third Prius, and the "EMF" is even more relevant with the PiP. Back when Prius was really novel, the plate was quite a conversation piece with other drivers curious what it meant.

I'm jealous of one I did see lately that I wish I thought of: "OHMRUNR" :)
