    Hi All,

I'm brand new to this forum and I'm not super knowledgeable about engines etc. but willing to learn. I have a 2008 Prius and I just brought it in to the dealer to have the recall issues taken care of. When they returned the car they recommended the following: Decarb Service, Mass Air Flow Service and Hybrid Blower Motor Service. Can I perform any of these on my own? How difficult are they? Do I have to get them done at the dealer if I don't do them on my own?

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Hybrid Blower Motor Service ?? Just a guess it might be cleaning out the HV battery cooling duct/fan. It depends - if you have a dog that sheds all over the back seat then you might need the cleaning. Whats the price?
Mass Air Flow Service ? It depends on the milage. You might get by with cleaning it yourself with a spray can you can get at any auto parts store.
Decarb Service ?? I question that any Prius will ever need this service.

    Thanks for the answers xpcman.
Hybrid Blower Service - I don't have a dog and I keep the car very clean inside. The price is $230

Mass Air Flow Service - The car has 70,400 mi. on it. I'll check on the forum to see how to DIY with the spray.

Decarb Service - Why don't Prius' need this?

Today's oxygenated gasolines (for example E10, containing 10% ethanol) prevent carbon buildup. It's unclear what this service is - it might just be running a can of STP through the engine.
This might be "Throttle Body" cleaning which you can do yourself.

I am surprised they didn't also say you needed alternator service.

JimboPalmer gave you some good links for DIY service. I would trust his advise.
