As I consider the ATP or not, I get what the APGS does. My question is a bit different. In my Honda, we have sensors that tell you when you are close to an object (slow beeping, fast beeping, solid sound). It's helpful when parking.

Does the Prius v 5 come with that standard. Is it even part of the APGS system.

And while I'm at it, are the backup camera's with the red and yellow lines the same on for both the v's that have and don't have the ATP?

When I purchased my 2013 Prius v trim/model 5 w/o ATP I also purchased through the dealer a "Front Parking Sensor" which was installed at my home. The dealer brought the "Front Parking Sensor" from Quintex Mobile Electronics in Escondido, CA (www.qatxmobile.com) . The "Front Parking Sensor" helps to prevent scratching the Prius v front end.

I'd love to have that feature too for parallel parking.

What car was in that commercial with the 360 degree view camera system?

I have a 2012 v.5 w/ ATP (wagon). The parking camera does NOT have sensors that indicate if you are approaching an object. I wish it did, as the angle of the camera lens makes that last few feet move much faster on screen than the first 10-15 ft (so you must be careful not to back into things).

The parking system by the way is basically just an automated steering assist. The car senses where you might want to park, puts a rectangle on the camera screen for you to confirm, and then while you control the brake to limit the speed of the car, the prius steers for you. When it has you in the spot, it's up to you to decide how far back to let yourself go.
I didn't compare ATP vs. non-ATP backup camera so can't answer your last question. v w/ ATP does have the lines to indicate where your steering will direct the car and straight lines that show you where the car would go if the steering were centered.
