I purchase a 2006 wreck, "with eyes wide open!", from a private party.
Being an optimist, my Plan "A" was to repair the extensive damage to the left side, which on the surface appeared to be mostly nuts & bolts, plus the center pillar. All within my limited body shop capabilities. Assembled the doors, fender and side section which included the major portion of the rocker panel/frame assembly. Soon discovered the fwd pillar hinge area was displaced and upon removing the dash interference, I found that pillar and a portion of the floor pan pushed in and damaged beyond practical repair.
Since I had approached this project with caution, I had a Plan "B". Part it out. In fact, when I did my worst case "numbers", I knew I would come out farther ahead if I parted out the car right from the beginning. Having already spent almost a grand on the parts on hand already, I still only have the regret that I can't save this car without going to a frame shop. And that isn't in the budget.
Since I'm a DIY sucker for a good deal that needs repairs. I will aways have need for the parts already purchased and some of the body components of this car.
I also realize with another hi mileage Gen2 in my shop, I will have need of some mechanical and electrical components. And I still hope to add an additional Gen2 eventually to my collection and sell my Gen1 (Classic) daily driver.
Here is the deal, if anyone is interested, read on:
This wreck has a good running Engine and Tranny For Sale with 198,000 miles ( won't need that since I already have a spare engine and tranny with 87,000 for my change out.)
The HV battery shows 3/4 charge after setting for 16 months. For Sale. (again, I also have a spare battery on hand for my future needs.)
I expect to keep the Invertor and major system ECUs for future needs.
I will sell the seats and interior trim.
I will keep the right doors and fender/hatch and rear bumper, but willing to sell the roof and right side section.
The damaged doors still have useable glass and elect. operators/lock assemblys and are for sale.
    Keeping the wheels and tires.
Basically, I will keep most anything that I might need for "nuts and bolts" DIY repairs of future vehicles.
If your in the Pac NW WA/OR area and interested in anything mentioned here or other stuff, contact me about price and availability. I will be asking something less than the ebay or CL prices.
Sorry if this post is in-appropriate for this forum.

Thanks for your like... If you ever want to start a club of Prius owners in South Puget Sound I'd love to have a group of people to meet up with every month to geek out on projects and ideas...

Do you still have the headlight leveling sensor. My swivel-arm bracket is broken.

    Danny,
I had a recent change of mind and went back to Plan A and have been working on the body damage, at least giving a try at repair in the forward driver door "A" Piller. If that is suscessful I will proceed to repair the rest of the damage. Failing the Piller "A" repair, I will then start parting it out.

If you are around the Portland area I know of two cars in a small auto shop back yard that are available for parts. If your not in that area, he has the part yet, he might remove it and ship to you. Either way, Private Message me and I will give you his phone number off forum.
