Haha! Sounds stupid, huh? We're trying to be more careful, position the car better in the garage to avoid contact, close the garage door before opening hatch, etc. But, it only takes once. I guess I'd better search to find the thread where they sell those shorter struts ... or, maybe I'll consider the padding suggestion.

Hatchback hitting garage door solution! | PriusChat

The poster of the above is a friend of mine going way back... If it were me and I had the problem, I'd probably either pad the garage door or try john1701a's trick.

I have 104,000 miles on my 2010 Prius and I had to replace both headlights and one parking light. Total costs of repairs on this car are less than $10. Toyota makes very reliable cars. This is the consumer report survey.

Red circles with white dots are the best rating you can get. I feel bad for all the people that bought and extended warranty on a car that does not break.

    SWEET.

I loved my 18-year-old Chrysler LHS--even cried a little when I traded it in for the 2012 Prius (Lithia Toyota of Billings was very gracious in giving me anything for it), but I didn't like all the work I had to have done on front end, the engine, and the air conditioning.

Looking forward to the next decade+ with the Prius.

Can someone explain what are the black circles for "electrical system" 03-09 all about? I hope it's 12V battery and not inverter or traction battery?

I do not know, but I had a 2005 for seven years, no problems! Don't worry about it! :) I have not heard of any electrical problems at all. Enjoy! your car. :D

I thought that was under the engine cooling black circles.

The inverter pump is a hybrid issue - which is why I suspect that it is under the electrical category.

I suspect it's a combination of inverter pump, maybe the CHS pump getting noisy (people could mark this as either electrical or engine cooling), combination meter (aka board w/speedo and odo), HID headlights (more so on 06-09), MFD (infamous for probs on 04 and 05), and weirdness caused by a failing 12 volt (but yet don't realize it's the 12 volt until the car doesn't start at all). Some of these don't apply to the 03, but most apply to the 04 to 09 models.

In the case of the 12 volt, since there's no starter motor and the ICE isn't started by the 12 volt (I suspect most Prius owners don't realize this), I wouldn't be surprised if they live with weirdness for a long time and then mark down on the survey that they had an "electrical" problem. I also suspect that thsoe w/failing HIDs incorrectly think that there's an "electrical problem" rather than a failing bulb.
