Ok, so the Gen II seats are awful. Not comfy, no adjustments, nothing. However the Gen III does. anyone know if the Gen III seats fit in the Gen II without modification?

    wth?

how expensive would that be. your only bet would be to find a gen 3 thats been totalled and salvaging the seats. good luck. try finding some recaros from a jdm imorter from like the new evo x people are always swaping those factory seats out in the jdm world.

These would look sweet in a prius, mitsubishi lancer evo 10

oh and if anyone has the seats out and is able to weigh them it would be interesting to know how much the factory seats weigh compared to aftermarket ones.

I placed a 3" block of foam in the drivers seat back between the springs and the lower metal support. This pushed the center of the back forward. What a difference.

I used to place a cushion behind my back which was a pain keeping it in position.

I also put foam under the rear of the seat bottom between the foam seat cushion and wire springs.

Worth a try, I'm desperate. With my back the longest I can drive the car on some days is about 30 minutes.

When my back was bad after a car accident I was unable to drive my 07. The crappy seat caught my bad L5/S1 just perfect. Plus the car has a stiff ride too which doesn't help. Crippled me after 30 mins. I bought a Crown Vic because of it. After my disc surgery no problem now.
    Sold Vic.

You may need an mri. You don't want to get that L5 to bad as eventually damages the nerves in your legs and sides of your feet. They can't fix that and is permanent. 2 guys at work waited to long. Foot numbness and sometimes wicked nerve pain in inside of thigh and edge of foot. Just about everyone in my Engineering group has blown there L5.

If you have insurance try to get an mri and see how bad your L5 is. It won't improve by itself.

The GIII seats are no better. I had to put 1.5" of high density foam into the bottoms and backs of the front seats otherwise I was in extreme pain on drives longer than 30 minutes.

I'm thinking of trying your suggestion xPETEx. I have to do something. Did you write up a report on this procedure? If so, could you provide a link? Thx.

I didnt do a write up. It's pretty easy. There's another thread with some numbered steps. Do a search for threads with seat in the title. It's a multi page thread. Basically you unplug the 12v battery, wait a few mins then disconnect the sensor clips under the seat. Unbolt the seat and remove from the car and then flip it upside down on something soft so it doesnt get scratched and the start undoing the hog clips under the back side of the seat (just cut them with side cutters and replace later with zip ties). The seat covers slide up and out of the way. And then you'll be able to slide foam between the springs and the factory foam Once you start doing it you'll get a better idea. I did 1.5" high density foam. 4 pieces at 14"x11" to do the front seats. Others have done 1" high density foam and also had great results.

The front seats in my 2007 have such poor lumbar support, I called the local car modification shop and they can install lumbar for $140. Im seriously considering it.

I also ordered Clazzios; before I install them I'd like to add a little foam. To those that added foam - where did you buy it? Any specs that you could share with me so I could get the same (Brand, density, specs, anything helpful)?

My Wet Okoles help a little as there about 1/2 in of foam but without that the seats are pretty brutal.

I went to a shop down to road from me called Foam Zone. I think they're just a local company. You should have an auto upholstery shop in your town that will have it. It was only $20 for four pieces. Each 14" x 11" of 1.5" high density foam. In the base of the seat this was the perfect size, and in the back of the seat this went from just above the lumbar to the top of the seat. I didn't need any additional lumbar support so I didn't add any foam there. If you want extra in the lumber you'll probably want a longer piece. Take measurements of your seat to figure it out.
