Okay so I want to buy a new car I live in California and am in the military. I want to find the best model and year Prius for me and was hoping that other in a similar position to mine might help me make the decision. So my question to you all is which model Prius should I buy ?

Prius c City car best if no kids, better mileage in town, worse on highway. Cheapest upfront cost

Prius Better on highways less in town, bigger. 4 person car easy.

Prius PHV best mileage, way expensive, best short range Prius

Prius v Station wagon real 5 passenger car, large cargo, 8 MPG worse than Prius. mildly costlier.

You are unlikely to find any of these used except the Prius

    Used
    2010 to 2013 is Gen 3 50 MPG 1.8 liter 134 HP
    2004 to 2009 is Gen 2 48 MPG 1.5 liter 110 HP
    2001 to 2003 is Gen 1 42 MPG 1.5 liter 98 HP

I've been seriously considering the standard Prius. Any recommendations as to specific models or features that are a "must" ?

The standard hatchback is certainly the sweet spot between price/space/economy. The biggest bang for the buck is the base "Two" model, all the models up from there simply have more doo-dads. The sweet spot for me was the "Four" model, primarily due to the power adjustable seats, but it is a big jump in price. Many here find the base seats in the Two and Three models to be uncomfortable, but only you can decide what fits you.
