I purchased a Prius-C type 2 in January 2013, from the time I left the dealership with a full tank, I recorded
the gallons pumped at every fill-up. After 6 tank fulls I concluded I was getting 47 mpg, which coincided with
the Prius' own calculations. So I abandoned the fill-up recording procedure and relied upon the Prius' own calculations.
I began to wonder why my mileage wasn't as high as some reported and concetrated on improving it. Now the car stays
in ECO mode and since I haven't reset my trip A or B meters, they report my mileage since I left the dealership.
I regularly record trips with 50+ mpg and the overall mpg has improved to 48.8. The car has about 4000 miles on the odometer, I hope this all make sense. Cheers.

Thats good to know. I average 50+ (still on my first fill-up) but the total trip meter is at like 42

Just picked up my C-2 on Thursday 200 miles since Around town 6-12 mile trips 55 to 65 mpg. One round trip to work in Boston 38 miles avg 52 mpg to work 48 avg home with a strong head wind. Don't want to let my wife drive it the avg will certainly go down.

Limited experience here - five fillups. That said, the computer has been 0.51 to 0.97 mpg optimistic each and every time compared to calculating by hand. 47.0 average. 49.5 best.

I'm at 45 overall, but I think that's mostly due to the crappy northeast Ohio weather. It was in the 50s at the end of last week and I got 56mpg on the way to work and 60 on the way home (1.5 miles city, 5 miles highway @ 53-60mph, 1.5 miles city). Also, tires are at 45/43psi. Hopefully my mpgs will stay that high with the improving weather.

Have a 2012 Prius C bought in December 2012. Over five tanks, I have logged, 49.0 over 430 miles; 47.5 over 413 miles; 51.5 over 449 miles; and 53.4 over 427 miles (on the fifth tank now and getting a little over 54 based on the car computer). All driving has been both city/highway, and city driving has been both normal and stop-and-go rush hour. I drive in ECO mode all the time. Does not seem to matter whether AC is running or outside temp. However, mileage is lower on first start usually takes about 20 minutes for the mileage to creep up.

If the temperature is below 50 I notice a huge difference. My normal trip that I have been struggling to get over 50 with, I got 65 this morning... HURRY UP SUMMER!!!!

Outside temp and whether AC is running both definitely have an impact on fuel economy. Looks like you just joined this awesome site, so read up in the Gen3 fuel economy forums about lots of things like this. And if you are really wanting to push your MPG's you have to be pulse and gliding. Read up and feel free to direct message me if you have any questions.

Just traded in my FJ for a Prius C this weekend. VERY different, I know. Obviously haven't had a ton of time with the C yet, but I'm loving it so far. It's just such a fun, little car. Anyway, I took it up into the mountains here in Utah this weekend, and on my 13 mile return trip home it appears I maxed out the mpg display on the dash at 99.9. Obviously not a total real world situation since the first 7 miles were downhill out the canyon, but there were still 6 miles out in flat valley. Is there any way to see what the true mpg for the trip was that's not display limited like the dash? I'd love to know (for bragging sake, of course).

On my first work commute this morning I got 48 (mostly highway), which is just about exactly 3X better than I would get with my FJ. Can't complain at all about that... and if it just gets better as it breaks in....

My torque app shows 255 as its max. Love seeing it, even though I know it isn't realistic either.

I suppose one way to do it is to top off the gas tank before you go on such a trip, check your odometer, then fill up the tank at the end of the trip and calculate your MPG with a calculator or fuelly.com

I think he meant instant mpg, not overall.

He said he wanted the mpg for the trip, which he mentioned was 13 miles, so my idea should help. Instant mpg would be impossible to calculate since apparently it's maxed to 255 according to ztanos.

Just filled up my tank for the first time. my actual mpg was 56.3 mostly country driving. Had to stop in to see the dealer, told my sales person that the car's fuel gauge wasn't working. He caught on in a couple of seconds. My C2 continues to impress me.

I'm not that concerned with it :). I was more just curious if one of the other screens showed greater than 99.9. Still getting a hang for all the different displays and what they all show.
