2006 with 98,0000 Hybrid battery failure. Warranty?

    I apologize if this is redundant (or amateur like ha), but could someone tell me the difference between the inverter coolant being replaced and the ICE coolant being replaced? Thanks!

    There are two independent coolant loops. Both need to be drained/refilled (with Toyota SSL pre-mixed coolant) at 100k miles and every 50k miles thereafter. Care must be taken to get air bubbles out of each loop when this is done or overheating can occur in either loop due to insufficient care in doing the job.

    Thanks JeffD! So the inverter coolant is in relation to the transaxle?

    My 2006 Prius just had hybrid battery failure with 115k miles. Estimate to repair: $4210. I'm the original owner for 6 years 7 months. In Georgia, the warranty is 8 years/100,000 miles. I've contacted Toyota corporate to get "assistance" since the warranty is so close by mileage and still within the time frame. Waiting to hear back from them. I'd like to know if Toyota has come through for others in this situation. Would like to know thoughts about what percent I should request/expect them to pay.

    Past posts indicate Toyota has helped in your situation. However, they base it on what they call Customer Loyalty and determine loyalty based on your vehicles service record with their dealerships. So, if you have had you maintenance done with the dealership throughout the life of your vehicle, they may split the cost with you... Good luck!

    I'm the OP. Well, finally got all my 100K work done. In the interim the mileage had settled at 55.1. It reset again so we'll see where it ends up.

    I asked for certain things done and of course got the phone call recommending other stuff. What's the verdict? Did I get hosed? (went to dealer)

    1. 12V battery replacement - $227
    2. PCV valve replace - $98
    3. Tune up - includes plugs which is what I asked for. $83
    4. 100K service (didn't ask for this) and ICE Coolant - $95
    5. Transaxle fluid - $78
    6. Clean and Lube rear brakes - $49
    7. Fuel Induction/Injection service - (also says top end cleaner) - $180. I feel this is where I may have been "taken".

    A reasonable price.
    Also reasonable as it is hard to get to and a good idea at 100k miles
    Not bad for iridium plugs
    A reasonable price for ICE coolant, what about the Inverter coolant
    A great price, $100 is a good price.
    Not bad and is a reasonable thing to do.
    Yup, not necessary at all, but the dealer needs to fund his family vacation.

    I had the inverter done at 80K. OK, at least the total "wasteage" was only $180. I feel like my Prius is now totally ready for the 2nd 100K.

    I appreciate everyone's help along the way.
