sill.JPG rsill.JPG Someone raised the question a few days ago, do the cheap knock off illuminated door sills advertised for the gen3 Prius fit the gen2? The answer is yes. I took the plunge and ordered some.

Fitting was easy, but I fitted them on top of the OEM black sill protectors instead of removing them. There are no clearance problems with the bottom of the doors, and I think the results are quite pleasing.

The only problem I had was with the double sided sticky tape provided "totally useless" but I had Some good tape to hand so no problem.

My car is a UK version so wiring is different to US but if anyone wants to know how I connect them just ask.

Britprius, I would love to know how to connect them. I tried playing with a multimeter but only managed to flatten the battery. cheers

I have responded to your PM, but for those with interest I will give connection details as soon as weather permits.

For those with righthand drive cars, UK, Australia, Newzeland, and others that wish to add sill lights, here are the connections I used in my UK Prius gen2 Tspirit. I cannot guarantee the connections in all countries will be the same, but here goes anyway.

The rear switch points you will be able to get at by removing the two rear door switches "1 screw in the door jamb either side" to reveal one wire on either switch. Connect into this wire a single wire on either side and route down under the rear sill inner covers. These will be the ground - wires for the two rear sill lights.

The other wire from each rear sill light pass through the center column to the front sill covers to pick up the same feed wire as each front sill light.

The drivers side connections in the kick panel are in the top white plug above the blue plug "see picture"the actual connections are:-

Ground wire - from the front sill light goes to the bottom left terminal with the blue wire in it. The positive + wire from the sill lights goes to the bottom right terminal with a red wire in it, this terminal feeds both front and rear sill lights.

    Drivers Side

The passengers side wires from the sill lights go to the blue plug in the kick panel on the passengers side see picture.[IMG]
    Passengers Side

The ground wire from the front sill light goes to the 2nd terminal down with a yellow wire in it on the left hand row of terminals. The possitive + wires from the front and rear sill lights goes to the 5th terminal down with a red wire in it on the left hand row of terminals.

At your own discresion in line fuses can be fitted near the point of connection, sugested fuse 1 or 2 amps.

The terminals at the front on either side are also suitable for footwell lighting.

Hope this makes sence, any questions just ask.

I should have added that for those with lefthand drive vehicles I do not know if the connections are the same or changed from side to side or just totaly different.

Can someone confirm wether the pictures are showing or not in post 5, thankyou.

Used the forum picture upload, not had problems before. Clicking on your post to reply bought up my post with pictures.

Will download just the pictures again to see if that works for you.
