Spring 2015 unveiling is exactly 2 years from now, next Gen Prius & NS4. Also Honda to have their new hybrid system in a redesigned Fit to compete with Toyota Aqua, will see!

Lets wait and see. 2 thoughts enter my mind.. Many engineers never see the entire car just the piece they are responsible for unless they are high level. This is just speculation. Toyota does not want to kill the goose at lays the golden egg. I would expect an improvement in the ride quality

Exactly, I think that is what Paradox was saying. While you want to create BUZZ for social media and so on, you would not want your competitors to know exactly what you are working on 2 years in advance.

Right. I can't imagine the mainstay prius would take a step backwards in ride quality and/or luxury options.... I assume that's why the prius C came into being.... For the hard core gas savers.

We all have a line in the sand where we are willing to give up luxury to keep gas mileage or vice versa, willing to give up gas mileage to get luxury.

The older I get, the more luxury and performance I want at the same time... That means loss in gas mileage or a more expensive car.

I just picked up an Avalon hybrid... A pretty good balance of both... But more money.

I think if Gen 4 drops in quietness, luxury, and/or performance, I will be out and looking at tesla or erring or towards the other options. Unless I can afford it, i will try to stick with Toyota.... They work.:) .. Even after 200k I have two that are still very reliable.

Looks awesome in those pictures. I would delighted if the car looked like that. Very stylish.

Stunning images! Looks great. I hope they keep some of this design in the final car. Often they don't however.

It's quieter (and has a more pleasing engine note) than the 1NZ in the Gen 2. Do you remember the Gen 2 in B mode going down a a long descent? It sounds like a twin prop. The Gen 3 with the engine at max rpm is quieter on the inside. (subjectively... I've never actually used a decibel meter to check but given that the Gen 3 has more sound insulation than the Gen 2, I think it's fairly accurate)

I don't see how Toyota's gonna gain 500 litres of extra cargo space unless the Gen 4 is a wagon (or has a super low floor). Also, there needs to be a standard on how they measure cargo area in a hatchback. Does it go to the top of the seat (so under the tonneau cover) or does it go all the way to the roof/rear window and include the underfloor storage bin too?

Maybe they'll go with 7000 18650 lithium cells to make a very low floor?
    ... Humm, I suppose not :-(

I look forward to seeing the real car :)
Invariably the production car is a lot more staid than concept or pictures.

That is not always a bad thing, by the way. At least the driver can see out the rear window ;)

They can maximize trunk if they place batteries under the rear seats, just like in C, Yaris or Auris. Actually I'm 100% that they will do this. The other thing that I bet on is D4-S fuel injection.

There is one more thing to solve, high engine revs when you need more power, situation today is like this:
    20 kW = 2.000 rpm
    40 kW = 3.650 rpm
    57 kW = 4.000 rpm
    74 kW = 5.200 rpm
    100 kW = 5.200 rpm + el. boost

The only way to solve this is Turbo or other type of charger, then we actually get a miller cycle engine.

The Pathfinder and QX50 Hybrids will come with a Miller Cycle engine.

OK. Someone explain a "Miller Cycle" engine.

I went back and re-read several of the recent post. Styling is a matter or personal preference. Personally, I really do not like the depiction with the break in the line from the hood to the cabin.

One rumor that will cause me to look elsewhere for my next hybrid is the one pertaining to the G4 being built on the Yaris platform. I am not interested in a small vehicle. My G3 is just about perfect for my needs. If those rumors persist, I will either buy a 2014, and be happy with 50 mpg, or find something else.
