    Hello,

Just found this forum doing some research on my new car. This past Friday, traded in my '03 Matrix for a 2010 Prius III since I'm driving 120 miles a day round trip for my new job! The gas needless to say was killing me. My wife liked mine so much, she traded in her RAV4 for a 2010 Prius yesterday! Even though we got newer cars, we're going to be saving money for sure.

I should see a gas savings of $200 a month. Looking forward to soaking up all the knowledge here on the forums.

    Eric

Thanks! The Matrix would get about 28 mpg, the RAV, around 22-23. Just over 40,000 miles on each of them.

You should be able to double your mileage then. :)

I also traded my 2005 Matrix for Prius for gas savings. I was getting about 30MPG driving at speed limits and now I'm averaging 55 - 60MPG with the Prius. The Matrix was essentially the same sized as the Prius, but only cost me only $19k new. At the time of purchase, I did not find the Prius two attractive enough to make to jump, plus gas was averaging back then at $2.50/gallon. This time around the choice was much simpler...

Well, an update. My wife decided to keep her RAV for now. I think she'll eventually get one though. Still loving mine! I did the trip odometer and I'm going 72 miles each way, and that's pretty much at least 70mph the whole way, up and down some rolling terrain. Power on the uphill, charge on the downhill, trip computer said I was averaging 40 mpg.
