you want to get your front windshield tinted? i would strongly advise against that. ive driven in some g35s with only like 40% on the front windshield. and it was pretty dark (too dark) got me to feel safe driving. imagine in the rain? even worse.
20% is pretty dark at night for average eyes. 5% limo tint you can forget it. Windows will be rolled down backing up and nearly impossible side vision in low light intersections.
Anyone's thoughts on an eyebrow tint? Doesn't look like many have done it to their PriusC. Or has someone?
I went 35% sides and 20% rear and rear lower. Very comfy and def. blocks out a good amount of heat! Before After
I had the same concern. My dad's car has a darker tint than my car and I have trouble seeing out of his windows at night. The tint I got I can still at night without any problem. It all depends on how dark a tint you get, the place you get at it should be able to show you different levels of tint and your eyes can see for themselves.
At what level does it start to impair would depend on individual. Factory tinted windows like suvs are around 35%. I went one darker to 20. I have no issues.
Nothing fancy, they used Johnson films. Interesting that 37% is legal.. so I guess I'm 2% over the limit in that state.
There are several options for windshield tint it is very light. Llumar Air Blue comes in 80%...there is a slight blue tint to it. 3M Crystalline comes in 90%...the most clear of the group. I think Huper Optik makes a 70%...I heard this distorts things a bit. Depends how curved your glass is. I have 3M Crystalline 90 on my windshield and it does wonders. It is very clear and you wouldn't be able to tell if I didn't say anything. 3M Crystalline is expensive. If you are looking to save some money I would go with Llumar Air Blue 80. It does just as good of a job and a great price. G5 in Alhambra is great. They really know their stuff and will sit down with you and explain everything. Their prices are fair and there workmanship is great also. I recommend then to everybody in the LA area looking to tint. Your car looks great. Good choice on the Llumar Air Blue for the windshield.
I know on the LEAF forums they were saying that they were installing a clear ceramic. This would prevent UV from entering the car and heating it up while still being clear.
Thanks! Yea, I had a great experience. There was no pressure to buy any brand or any price. Plus the waiting room is great, comfortable chairs, free wifi, free soda/bottled water, big TV, and it is very clean. You can tell they put in the effort for their customers. They opened a shop in Pasadena as well.
