Fuel consumption

    You can see my post above where I agree with you overall. However, there is no law of physics about getting more than ~112 MPGe. I regularly go for the a whole week or so without using any gas and I'm getting about 190 watt-hours per mile...this is about 175 MPGe. This is before accounting for charging losses (~10%) so it is still 160+ MPGe.

    well, i was thinking about overall fuel efficiency. obviously you can get more…if you drive slowly enough and with gentle enough acceleration/braking. the 112 comes from EPA tests which include highway driving…

    I don't monitor MPGe because even if it was break even (ICE as efficient as EV in term of MPGe) I would still prefer to use electricity over gas. EV is way more fun, the grid gets cleaner everyday and the money stays in the country. ;)

    My goal is mainly to burn less gas.

    Right on! For me I recharge from the roof of my house as you can see in my Avatar. Now is the time of year when I am starting to make more power than I use most days so having the sun power my trips downtown just feels way better than burning dinosaurs!
