    Hey all,

Just picked up my Prius C from the Toyota service centre after they replaced my bumper. Girlfriend backed into a post and it made a small dent in the bumper. Total cost to replace was $375 before tax ($420 w/ tax); This included a new bumper, paint, and labour.

I wish I had taken pictures, but when it was damaged I could see how the bumper fiberglass bumper just hooks into the rest of the car's outer body. I believe that this simplistic design is what made it so easy to fix (and relatively inexpensive).

I live in BC, Canada on Vancouver Island. Not sure how much this price varies elsewhere, but hopefully it gives people a ballpark figure.

Lucky you with that price. We had one small bump in our first week, also on the rear bumper. The best deal for replacing it for us was $980. We're in the expensive San Francisco Bay Area, near Silicon Valley.

Having done body work in the past and having replaced several bumper covers in the past 10 years for a few friends I can tell you that $370 for a new bumper cover painted and installed is an almost unbelievable price. The bumper cover for the Prius C is more than $300 for even an aftermarket bumper cover and even more for the OEM. Paint, shop supplies ( i.e. reducer , sandpaper etc.) and labour would make for closer to $1000 bill. I think you will find that the work order was to repair and not replace the bumper cover or possibly they were not telling you the truth about fixing it rather than replacing it.

I had a feeling they were just repairing the existing bumper. What I failed to mention was that the dent caused a tear in the bumper, that was the only thing that made me think the bumper was replaced.

sigh. allow me to join the dinged rear bumper club. it was inevitable with toronto street parking, though. people cram themselves in pretty tight. aside from the shame of a non-pristine vehicle, is there any concern with just leaving it? IMG_0808.JPG

As long as you don't mind the ding its not going to harm the car in anyway you can leave it like that if you don't want to repair it.

Dangit! Well hindsight is 20/20 on these things, but that looks pretty much perfect for my circumstances.

I had my bumper replaced and painted for about $800. I notice that the Prius C dents very easily, I had a couple of door dings as well and I am very careful on where I park. I wish the car came with better side moldings and better the rear camera. My wife hit a post as well.

I have the moonglow white and the bodyshop did an excellent job matching the paint. I asked for the OEM bumber which it is around $240 for the part, the rest was labor. Look for consumer reviews on line before using a body shop. The one I use had 4.5 stars.

Is there a way to get behind the corner of the rear bumper to push out a tiny one?

  13. Eeck... well I guess it would match the state's vigilante sewer-yellow-colored license plates...o_O

although you have the prettier white-blue in the pic

Fountain Valley Body Works in Fountain Valley will repair any bumper for $350. Voted best body shop in the OC.

I was just rear ended (teen texter!). The lucky for me part is that there was a Lexus between the teen's old sedan and my Prius c, so only the bumper cover was damaged. Insurance est was under $700, Car dealer a bit over $800. Has anyone had any problems with their battery after getting hit? I am concerned about the possibility of damage to the battery mounting or battery that may not show up right away.

Bumper bully would not have helped my Prus c, as the Lexus was pushed into the corner of my bumper.

For that, I'd just slap a black plastic bumper protector on it and forget about it. It's too bad the C protectors don't cover the back edge like the ones for the Prius and V's do.

What would be an estimate to fix something like this?

My wife did just this same thing in her Mazda 6. Only exception was that she did the entire quarter panel and her spoiler. $3500...

You probably have to take the cover off.
