Would it be possible to post a video of a horn installation. I live in New Jersey and EVERYONE here has an attitude problem and a bigger horn is a must.

I would love to see pictures detailing then installation of new horns. Can you abandon the OEM horn in place and remount the new ones under the hood somewhere?

I have removed my original horn and install the new twin horn behind the fron bumper beam. The front bumper has to be removed and then it is very straight forward in removing the original horn and installing the new horn.. I should have taken photos during the installation :(

Squall, will u please provide some steps or guidance to remove the front bumper? I have a PIAA horn on the way, and I plan to replace the current sad little farthorn. I have experience removing the bumpers from my old FJ Cruiser. I see quite a few bolts underneath the bumper fascia attaching it to what looks like a panel to improve airflow efficiency. Thanks.

    See this thread.

Although the diagram from the service manual got lost in the recent forum conversion. Perhaps Squall could re-post it.

yea.. my good eyes can read the small picture i was able to upload.. but you should be able to figure it out hopefully from the actual diagrams..

there's not much to it really.. some screws.. bolts, two plastic grommet thingies.. and clips.

Has anyone tried the Wolo Bad Boy horn, and what do you think about this as a replacement?

I changed my OEM horn on all three of my serially owned Priuses to a pair of FIAMM Highway Blasters. Note: make sure you get the "Highway Blaster" set as there are other, less penetrating Fiamms out there. Additionally, make sure you get the "High note" and the "Low note" Fiamm: they are marked with an "H" and an "L" on their nautilus-shaped coils and they have different part numbers on the box. The difference in high and low notes makes for a much better penetration of sound on the road. I had learned this horn swap-out decades ago when I used to motorcycle across the country every Summer while in the Army. When you do need them that one time per year, you don't want 2d best.

The Prius horn replacement thread cited above is correct that the actual replacement is a PITA and you need a clear day or a nice garage and up to an hour without distractions and you will skin a knuckle or two getting behind all that plastic in the front - but then you're done and they sound great. Good luck!

Completed installation of the high and low Fiamm Freeway Blaster. Tight fit but works and no bumper removal just remove top clips to loosen bumper and the black top cover which is flexible enough to get your hand in. Included installed pic

For a little extra room, I removed the small black hood clip that's held on with just 2 bolts.

Anything is better than those stock horns but I think the Highway Blasters volume wise just ok. They are about the same decibels as luxury car horns.

I just did mine the same way, using the Fiamm El Grande twin horns set ($20 at Amazon), which someone on the forum recommended. I found there was plenty of room to work from above with the black top cover loosened and held back with a block of wood; I was able to get both hands in as needed.

Here's a photo showing the cover pulled back with the factory horn already removed; the "x" marks the horn mounting bracket:

Yup, the C has just *one* wimpy horn! I'm very pleased with the sound of the Fiamms.

I first discovered how pathetic the C horn is when the guy stopped in front of me at a red light fell asleep at the wheel. I lost track of how many times I tapped the horn, thumped the horn, LEANED on the horn... finally had to get out of the car... Sheesh.

That should be the test to qualify an acceptable horn. I am sure there must be a decibel requirement! shhesh!

Also, if our windows are closed my husband cannot hear me when I come home from grocery shopping and honk so that he will come down and help unload. Even though I park literally right underneath the window next to where he is sitting, he just can't hear the thing.
