I think Rain-X is great, but I think Aqua Pel is even better but impossible to find for sale in Canada.
I bought some in a group buy couple years ago. It lasts a lot longer than Rain-X and seems to have a bit better water shedding abilities. I'm back to Rain-X, since the only places that sell it want to apply it too and charge way too much.

If anyone parks outside beneath trees, DON'T park beneath a tree right after your first RainX treatment until it rains first (or at least give your car a quick spray of water with the hose beforehand).

Tree leaves, leaves with sap, stamen, pollen, etc. fell all over my C after a surprise overnight windstorm after I applied RainX on a surprisingly non-rainy and warm Seattle weekend, and I've had to literally scrub the stuff off my windshield. I have a suspicion it's the combination of the higher than norm temperatures, RainX, and sap that somehow congealed on my windshield which left this foggy haze of sap-like material I've had to scrape off ..and I still have a few tiny chunks of sap/stamen bits on the windshield. The wipers also have this annoying squeak to it that I never have had from using RainX previously, so it's probably the sap + RainX on the wipers.

My parking situation means that I am 90% of the time parked beneath a variety of trees (and this particular cuplrit tree), but after applying RainX it would always rain later that same day or the next day. Anytime after that first rain, whenever I'd get leaves, sap, pine needles, bird poop, dirt, etc. everything would come off with the rain water or carwash...not this time!

I've been using RainX for a long time on both my Prius C and Honda with great success (and always abide by using it on a clean windshield with the correct temperature, etc.)..but be careful if you park outdoors. I just purchased the RainX glass cleaner that I'm going to try out tomorrow, so hopefully it will remove tree sap like it says on the bottle.

we've used 40 or 50 gallons, repeat gallons, in racing especially and street use.
    1. If the wipers wore out quickly we were unaware of it. Didn't scratch the windshield, either.
    2. Its purpose is not to do away with wipers but to encourage water to run off the glass, whether pushed or not. Do not expect to not use your wiopers, just help them and see better.
