    ChargePoint has sample letters here:

    Electric Vehicle Charging by ChargePoints

They also have a web form to contact your employer to do this.

Electric Vehicle Charging by ChargePoint - Request EV Charging Station

    Anyone has done this?

Not sure whether companies have any incentive to do this. A while ago, there was a promotion in MA to install charging stations at businesses for almost free. Not many companies took advantage of this.

There is ongoing 30% of installation cost tax credit for businesses.

Yup. HR responded by saying we cannot dedicate resources for the sole benefit of a single employee. It wasn't unexpected but they did agree to let me use a 120V outlet. Which is all I really wanted anyway.

I read somewhere that companies can earn green points by doing this. The green points can save taxes, which more than enough covers the cost. Anyone has a link to the information?

I've been trying to convince them for the past year, without a bit of luck. I would appreciate any ideas at all.

Well there's more than one way to skin a cat. We got our charge stalls, once some of the big shots started buying/leasing plug-ins. Work it from THAT angle. See, that way, the charge stalls are not for the benefit of a single employee. It's for the benefit of those who charge, period. The other effective angle we did was via our company's "commuter service" department. Reducing pollution via van/car pooling can also be acomplished via plug-in's.

I suggest offering to do the leg work in finding possible grants and costs/contractors for the stations. It worked for me and now we have 5 stations at our building complex.

If you are in California I suggest calling Clipper Creek and see if they can offer assistance.

Depending on the building and available nearby parking, a single outlet or several could be fairly cheap. Shared cost would be even better. I ran my 240v line at work for less than $100 plus my time. My 240v line at home was even less.

I tried over a year ago, presenting all the ChargePoint information with out any luck, at the moment was to expensive of an investment for a single employee.
All along this time, quite a few Leaf, Volts, C-Energy and my PiP showed up in our Company parking lot and management decided to install the newer kid on the block, a dedicated L2 PEP charge station for 6 EV/Hybrid cars. It's a beginning....:) Huray !!

I asked and they installed..... It took 2 months. After it was installed they ran a video about how green the company is and how they support green efforts of employees. It was a win / win.

US Federal government agencies need to follow LEED in new construction, I bet other governments do too.

LEED | U.S. Green Building Council

Government buildings | U.S. Green Building Council

Alternate vehicle charging/refueling can earn LEED credits

Alternative transportation - low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles | U.S. Green Building Council

Their may be incentives for private businesses as well.

I too wasn't expecting my employer to install one just for me. All of the other employees laugh at my car because they love their gas hogs. But, I am able to charge anytime at work for FREEEEE!

Guess who gets the last laugh :)

:)Might be better than no option at all. Does he/she realize their actual cost or do they have a cost?

hard to comment when we dont know your location. in some areas, peak rates might mean your employer is making next to nothing. what is the max rate of the charger? if its 30 amps and you have a car with a 6 KW charger or higher, you are actually making out fairly well compared to gas

Sent an email to the estates dept of our company today asking if they could put in a charger. Use all my EV miles on the morning commute so a second charge at work would be great. Fingers crossed.

    I guess $5 a day would cover it ;-)
