How many times have you gotten to your charging station or outlet, ready to plug-in the PIP and then remembered you almost Forgot to set the Timer???

I set the Timer 3 times a day:
    - When I get to work, I set it for 10am to get partial charge for lunch.
    - After Lunch I set it for 2pm to get home.
    - At home I set it for 5am for the next morning.

I almost forget to set the Timer at least 3 times a week.
I have to put the cable down, get back in the car, set the Timer, THEN plug-in the PIP.
I hope the Timer function can be improved in future models.

You can still set the timer after it's plugged in. Why not set a finish timer for one of them, and leave that one alone, then you can use the start timer for the other two occasions?

:)I always use the timer when I charge. No issues with forgetting, yet.

Hi! I don't understand why you use the timer all that times. Why you don't let the car start charging when you plug and ends when it finish o when you unplug.
I only use the timer at nigth, when I get home at nigth, I set the timer to start at 5:00 am and end at 7:20, just 40 minutes before I go work. Other times I just plug without timer, I do it worng?

    Thanks!
    Regards from Barcelona.

:eek:Isn't it best for the batteries to cool down prior to recharging? When I arrive at work in the morning, I set the timer to start at least an hour later. At night, I set the timer to finish just before I leave the next morning. If I'm out during the day, I wouldn't think twice about immediately recharging, so I'm ready to go.

I've never used the timer. I just plug it in when I get home.

I use the Timer when I get home, to complete at 7 AM. I forget sometimes, and I don't care. I also forget to plug the car in sometimes. But, at least I always remember to put my pants on before I get in the car. So there's that.

I wouldn't muck around with changing the timer thrice daily.

It would be nice if they made a smart phone app that reminds you. I'd set a timer to check if the car was plugged in and and set. If not it would text me. I've forgotten to plug in my car 4 times in the past 6 months since I've owned it. Just about all plug in vehicles have an app to do all kinds of things. But the base model PiP is left out.

The Base model doesn't have a built-in cell phone like the Advanced has (for Safety Connect), so there is no way for it to talk to an app that is not within Bluetooth/USB range.

Many of us are on time-of-day electric rate plans that have much lower rates during the night. I understand that if one lives in the Pacific Northwest and pays 3 cents/kwh for hydro power, it is not much of an issue, but when the base rate is 30 cents/kwh or more like in most parts of California, one cares about these things. :)

The single charge timer works fine for me. I just press the timer button before I plug it in, and it remembers the last setting.

Hey! we pay 6 or 7 cents per kwh :p

I have mine set to start at 6:30AM for a 9AM departure. It usually finishes a little before 9. You can lean in and press the timer button after plugging in the vehicle if you forget, it still works. I never use the finish timer, because it starts charging the car WAY too early. On the weekends I just plug in and charge whenever I can, because I never know when I'll be running out again. This is where the level 2 charger is going to come in handy!

:)The charge timer is a nice feature, easy to use, and I use it almost exclusively. I use start time when I arrive at work and finish time during the night. I forgot to plug in my electrical cord once and I received a nice email from Entune the following morning that my Prius failed to charge. I do like the apps for the Plug In Advance. My favorite is charging status.

    New find today !!!

Again I forgot to set the timer before plugging in the charge cable.
In the past I would remove the cable, close the door, get in the car, set the timer and re-plugin the cable.

Today, I left the cable plugged in, noticed it was charging, got in the car and set the timer.
The PIP stopped charging until the new time. GREAT !!!
