Mine runs from the mid-50s to over 60 MPG on my work commute; except for winter time, when it runs more like 45 MPG due to the cold and my studded snow tires. It all depends on traffic, temperature, and wind direction. You will discover that when your MPGs are this high, all sorts of things make a difference you can see. You will also discover the how to drive to get the most out of your new ride. Enjoy. :)

Stop using EV Mode until you know what you are doing.

My summer commute average (up and down the hill) used to be 57-65mpg depending on how much I hypermile. 100 miles round trip at 60-65mph.

OP, actual mileage may vary from what your display tells you.

For me, 9 miles fwy to work 60-70 mph. Display reads 52-56 mpg avg.
9 miles home city streets 35-45 mph stop and go traffic. Display reads anywhere from 54-60 mpg.

My real world numbers combined, as you can see in my sig, is 51 mpg.

From my research, I thought EV is just a gimmick. Even in ECO mode as long as you dont pass the middle bar it will still be in electric only mode. Plus if you run down the battery, the engine is gonna work harder to recharge the battery anyways, which is a big no-no.

Atleast thats what my research seems to point to.

yeah, but I thought its bad to do that as it runs down your battery, so the engine has to work harder to recharge battery and drive the wheels, wasting even more gas.

I have a 2013 Prius 2. I have a 40 mile round trip commute M-W and a 120 mile round-trip commute on Thursdays around the DC beltway (85-95% freeway). Depending on traffic I get anywhere from the low 50's to low 60's MPG (odometer calcs show over 500 miles per tank at fill up). I haven't seen what the cold will do to those numbers yet.
