How's your Prius treating you outside of warranty?

I have 86,xxx miles on my 2010 Prius. 80-90% of those miles have been highway miles. I've owned the car for 2 years and 4 months. I bought a dealer offered maintenance package when I purchased my car and they have done all my oil changes and tire rotations.

In short: This car has been very reliable. I have only had to make two warranty claims. Repairs I've done to it have been due to accidental damage.

In the past two years here is what I've fixed, not in any specific order... (this doesn't include upgrades)
1) Warranty work: Dealer replaced under tray due to failing oil door
2) Warranty work: Dealer replaced JBL Navigation unit due to unresponsive buttons
3) Replaced front passenger hub due to damage from impact with curb at speed.
4) Replaced front passenger axle due to damage from impact with curb at speed.
5) Replaced front passenger strut due to damage from impact with curb at speed. @ 75,000 miles
6) Dealer completed front end alignment due to damage from impact with curb at speed.
7) Replaced remaining 3 struts/shocks so that all dampeners are at the same wear level.
8) Replaced front two windshield wipers to replace worn wipers
9) Replaced front windshield and 4 dents from storm damage
10) Replaced one tire due to damage sustained from pothole which caused an un-repairable flat.
11) Dealer completed front end alignment due to damage sustained from pothole.
12) Replaced front passenger turn signal due to damage from road debris
13) Replaced four tires at 80,000 to replace worn tires
14) Replaced engine air filter once
15) Replaced cabin air filter twice
16) Replaced 5 parking/licenses plate light bulbs (switched most to LEDs)

 

My factory warranty just ran out. There are currently 33,000ish miles on my car. I purchased an extended vehicle warranty from USAA for $501. Covers me till July 2015 or 60,000 miles whichever comes first.

I haven't had any major issues since the warranty ran out. Only thing is that I've got some mold growing on the glass over the Hybrid System Indicator. Looks like condensation, but it's a known issues. Other then that, no engine issues.

 

I bought my 2009 Prius new in Feb 2009. 34,000 miles now with no problems.

 

I only have 35k miles and the warranty ran out a couple of months ago (3 years is up), but I feel much better knowing I have the MPP warranty to fall back on. Mine was certified by a local dealership and my MPP warranty covers me til 125k. I pretty much drive for a living, so an extended warranty is more than a piece of mind. No matter what the reputation of a car company is, machines break down, that is a fact.
