I'm selling the nav lockout override that used to be in the 2010 Prius I'm selling. The cost is $125 plus postage. Let's you press a button and then do anything the NAV unit would normally not let you do while moving. Lasts about 5 minutes. You can press again to go back to normal mode earlier than that. While you are overriding, the car can't keep track of where it is.

I'm attaching a pic. I'll add the instructions tomorrow. It's all plug and play, no cutting of wires. You just have to be willing to take the center of the dash apart. The cost new is $289. Here are my installation pics: Install Nav Hack - Google+

Here's the explanation from the prestigious society website: Prestigious Society » Navigation and Video Enhancement Module » Prestigious Society

"The Prestigious Society “plug and play” Navigation and Video Enhancement Module is a passive and non-obtrusive OEM vehicle enhancement designed to bypass all the system lockouts associated with the factory navigation and entertainment systems."
    "Key features:
    • Enter and edit destinations
    • Enter and edit Points of Interests (POIs)
    • Browse the phone and address book
    • Dial phone numbers on the numeric keypad
    • Browse music folders and playlists from MP3 discs and/or HDD audio sources.

Forgot to bring the instructions to work to be scanned. Tomorrow. FYI, I will entertain offers lower than than the $125 asking. The homemade version in the prius chat shop is cheaper but probably a bit more work and not quite as slick in the packaging, etc.

Hi all. As promised, here are the installation instructions. I tried to upload a high res version, but PC balked at the file size. In a nutshell, you pull 3 center console/dash pieces (if you want to set them out of the way, you unplug the electrical connections), and loosen a 4th piece (around the start button). You unscrew 4 bolts holding the nav unit (you need a socket wrench with an extension). You pull out the nav unit far enough to unplug 3 connectors. Those connectors get plugged into the lockout connectors, and the lockout connectors get plugged into the nav unit. Put it all back together, start the car, wait for the reboot process, and you're done.

I'm lowering the price to the same $90 charged for the homemade lockout sold in the PriusChat shop. I'm pretty sure this device is easier to install (no wire cutting, etc.) and a bit more sophisticated than the one in the Priuschat shop (that is no longer being made).

Do this work with the base PiP (6" NAV w/ no JBL)? I think you recently got a PiP as well, so I am assuming maybe this doesn't work with it?

The short answer is no, my switch will only work with the 2010 and 2011 Prius nav system. Here's the relevant portion of the response from Prestigious Society:

"The system that you installed in your 2010 Prius is not compatible with any of the 2012 Prius as the 2012 Prius are using the 7th Generation navigation system. Your order system is compatible with most Toyota without the Entune system.

We offer the new application for the 2012 Prius. The new application is significantly different from the old one. First of all, the new application no longer has a separate switch. To activate our system and access the navigation related motion lockouts, you simply press - - + + on the volume control buttons located on your steering wheel. To deactivate the system you will enter the same sequence again.

In addition to the navigation motion lockouts, the DVD playback will be permanently enabled. Since you have the Premium HDD Navigation, it is capable of play DVD while the car is park with parking brake engaged. Upon installing our system, the DVD playback is always available without activating anything. It will not impact your navigation GPS function."

Bumpety-Bumpety. Hi again. There must be someone on PriusChat interested in adding a nav lock override to their 2010 or 2011 Prius. I'm sure the one sold in the PriusChat shop is great (note that cpoaudio is saying he's not going to make it anymore), but this one from Presitigious Society is far easier to install. Someone should make me an offer. It would be sad to see it just go to waste.

Sorry, someone else offered me $100 shipped in a PM. Rather than try to start a bidding war, I'm just going to accept that offer. Thanks anyway. I'll let you know if that other offer falls through.
