Hi! I have prius 2011 and i wanna know what difrent between Data update and CDDB updaate and how i update gps self i dont have usb in my car? Data 2010-2011 ver 1 Gracnote CDDB ver 02421 se attaches photo Please Help ?
If you would post where you are located it may help with someone in your area. From your picture you are not in US. In the US the dealer supplies an updated DVD that you install in DVD player behind the display screen.
I have a neck ache from tilting my head to look at the photo. Call your local Toyota dealer parts dept, tell them what version you have, what you want to upgrade to, and how much is it! If it's a USB upgrade, same thing call Toyota. You van Google "Toyota Prius C map updates" there are some dealers that will sell at a better price online! That's how I got my last update!
Do you really want to update? At $200(+/-) and with such a poor initial GPS database, the update is likely to be as out of date as the current database.
What do you mean "poor initial GPS database" ? GPS almanac is updated every time when the receiver starts a new session with the satellites In regard to terrestrial (cartographic) data the updates are necessary. We are building new roads, the cities are being expanded ... so and so... My maps are three years old now - as in my country exists a huge governmental project to build new sections of highways and fast traffic lanes - I need the updates badly to not to have an icon of my car's position in the middle of the white somewhere
My mistake. I thought you were talking about the Prius Map program which is loaded into memory on the car and only updated via DVD. It's a lousy map and lousy GPS mapping program. Since the original is so bad and out of date (mine is) I don't have any confidence that the "update" is any better and for $200 I'd buy a kick butt Garmin with better maps, better software and lifetime updates.
thanks for replay . i am in Europe sweden , in Toyota dealer is very expensive for DVD , 400 dolar , i dont have USB in my car
Yes, $400 is expensive. It was $169 in the US which is still expensive. I think Toyota would sell a lot more of these if they would lower the cost to a more reasonable price. Evidently this is not going to happen. I upgraded mine from the 2008 version to the 2011 version. The 2011 version did have all of the recent road and highway upgrades in North Carolina, US that I was interested in. I will probably upgrade mine every 3 to 4 years based on the upgrade documents they send out with each year's upgrade data on a state-by-state basis.
I am not sure you are right...You do have a USB port just behind your screen...When you have the screen tilted, in the upper right corner there is a little plastic window and if you slip it up you'll see the port. That the port that the dealers -here in Greece- will use to upgrade your database, software etc. I presuem that if you buy through Ebay the latest map version for your country (E16 North Europe) and you put the content in a 8+Gb usb stick you can do it....I'll do the same thing in a few days, since I think that the 200 Euros I have to pay are too much....
This socket is different from any micro USB which I know. It reminds me of micro AV used for digital cameras. Anyway - AFAIK the update for our Toyota Navigation system is being delivered on the CD's .
thanks . do u know if i can bay this from ebay or amazon ? and what my GPS name Toyota Touch Pro or Toyota Touch & Go `? or another one
1. Purchasing via internet - I did not check, you may try your own research; 2. Honestly speaking I don't know what I have My car is from second hand - French origin. I got it without Owner's manual and I found in the web so many variations of audio/navigation models for Toyota, that I'm completely lost. This week I'm going to Toyota service for some maintenance and hopefully together with the maps update (in Poland expected cost is ca. 250USD) I'll be able to obtain at least the identification of my unit
