There are several Toyota colors that I'm not interested in, but I wouldn't recommend that they drop them based on my preferences. I personally like the Salsa Red the best, and based on other peoples comments, I wouldn't exactly consider that color a marketing failure.

Also, white may be considered dangerous in the northern states, but believe it or not, it doesn't snow everywhere. Some people like white cars because they reflect a lot of solar heat.

Is that a reference to the old "Funny Face" drinks?

Gads, there are people as old as me on this site!

I just got new carpet installed in my office. The color is called Blue Diamonds. It is very close to my Seaside. It also changes color depending on the way light is shining on it.

The Matrix, the Celica, and the MR2 are offered in bright, vivid colors because they are marketed towards young buyers. Judging from the colors available, I would say that the Prius is marketed towards mature, fairly affluent, well-educated, well-mannered, conservative buyers. Doesn't sound like much fun. :(

To paraphrase Volvo of years past, "94% of Prius drivers have a college education......the other 6% are just smart."

Statistically speaking, type A personalities buy red cars. Police do not target red cars, nor do insurance companies charge more money for people who own red cars... more "agressive" type A's own red cars than they do, say, a silver car.

That said... I want that dark blue.

When I placed my order, longer ago than I care to admit (hint, look at my user name - my car broker messed it up, but then that is a story for another day), I selected the Tideland because I liked the color swatch in the brochure. I recently realized that any resemblance to the actual color is purely imaginary. My first choice is now the Seaside with the Salsa Red as an alternate. With my luck, the 2005 model will have none of these colors available.
