did you get one? i sat in one at the dealer, but was disappointed with the interior. it might be a bit large for my wife, but i think she should give it a test drive, heard it was very quiet and smooth?

I'm a tech. I've driven bunches of them. You found the interior disappointing, really? After owning/driving a Prius? The only Toyota with a worse interior than a Prius is a Yaris, which costs $10,000 less. Rav4's right behind it.

The Camry hybrid is nice enough but it's a cheap rattlebox compared to the Avalon, IMO.

wow, i think or 08 hycam is really smooth and quiet. at 60,000 miles, it is like brand new. anyway, the avalon interior is very nice compared to other luxury cars i'm sure. i'm just not a luxury car guy, i love the prius interior. if i were designing the avalon, the console area would have a lot more storage spaces, phone, cupholders, etc. there's just a lot of wasted space there. i sat in a venza too. i don't know who designed that center console, but what a nightmarish contraption!

Yeah, Venzas are very small inside. It's a silly car.

I've worked on a TON of high-mileage Priuses, too.. which is partly why I am not impressed by their interiors at all. The higher trim levels are an improvement, but not much.

Ditto goes for 6th generation Camrys. 60k miles isn't much on a Camry. They're not that nice at all over 100k unless you're a very gentle owner and driver. The new 7th gen/2012+ Camry is a major improvement, however! I'm not sure we'll ever see a return to the bulletproof 3rd/4th-gen days (1992-2001) but it's a step in the right direction, at least.

Same here...my daughter and I have pri, both PIPs, bought within a month of each other. Pretty cool to see them next to each other in the garage. Will post a pic when I finish the epoxy floor this spring.

Met a couple in Florida at an ice cream stand in early March, they had just purchased an Avalon Hybrid. They both raved about it. And, it was gorgeous; Sizzling Crimson Mica. I can see this replacing Mrs. JimPHLs Venza, unless the Venza gets the hybrid treatment!

The Venza center console is indeed a nightmarish contraption! Makes the flying buttress in the Pri seem well designed; but we've debated that one already.

I think it's more likely that the Venza will be a 1-and-done Toyota than anything. It fills a niche that doesn't exist.

I am, however, honestly surprised that Toyota doesn't offer hybrid drivetrains in more of their cars.. especially since the 2.5L 2ARFXE drivetrain is offered now in the Camry and Avalon, which both offer an available 2GRFE V6... The same V6 found in the Highlander, Sienna and Rav4. Packaging for the battery is an obvious consideration but shouldn't really be that big of a deal.. The Highlander HV is now available with a 2GRFXE, too.

Seems to me that the HV drivetrains are a better option for the traditionally more expensive vans and SUVs, anyway.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but...I absolutely agree with the one and done on the Venza.

That said, the first Toyota sedan with all wheel drive and a hybrid will ultimately replace our silly Venza. I am hoping that the 4th gen Prius has an AWD option. That's first on my wish list for the next Prius, but that too is another thread!

Two 2012 Prii in my garage. I have the Model 3 hatchback and she has the Prius V-3. Pretty crazy how the geek-stuff is different from car to car. In mine, there is a lot more data to monitor...when you turn off the car you get the information for the trip where the "V" feels really simplified. Weird little things like the different turn signal sound and big "happy" fonts make me believe that the car was really being made for drivers who might not geek out as much as someone like me. In my wife's case, she went from a big Tahoe LTZ to this car and she really likes it.

I wish. How much are one of those running for? More luxurious than the hycam and more stylish too.

Yep, my '05 Gen 2 and my wife's '10 Gen 3. Figure between the 2 of us we're getting over 90 MPG :>)

Can't imagine why people buy the single mode Honda IMA equipped cars, won't do electric only, so if the wheels are turning, the gas is burning.

My wife got hers during March 2010. I was so impressed I got mine during May 2010. Couldn't be happier.

Yes, my wife traded a 07 Camery for a 2012-2 then 8 months later I traded my 09 RAV4-6 4wd for a 2013-4. No absolutely no regrets. No problems with the others, just wanted best mpg and hatchback and 3 years of free service on a very reliable and good resale Prius

We are a two hybrid car family. My husband drives a 07 Honda Accord Hybrid. It's a V6 and he likes the leather seats, more room and vrooom. It handles sportier, but it gets 36 mpg on a great day. While that's good for a V6, it's nothing like my 54 mpg!!!! Plus, his back seat doesn't fold down, so guess who gets to haul things from Home Depot?
